I work with many, many people from other places and none of them are shunned because they "aren't from here".

The people that I know that tried just about everything, but I understand what you are saying as well. You're right, sometimes it isn't the fault of the people who live here, but rather the person who came here from another place. However, I know people who find it so hard to meet people here and the feel as though they have tried everything. I guess it takes both the person who moved here to take advantage of every opportunity to meet people they have and the native to welcome that person into groups of friends, etc. Glad you had a good experience in Louisville! That is wonderful to hear that everyone seemed so welcoming. I hope they get the same treatment as you had when they move next week further south here in KY to a small town. Take good care and thanks for the input!

That is good to hear! I hope they end up having this same experience at some point. They are actually moving further south here in KY to a small town so I hope that helps! Thanks you for your input though. I just wanted to let you know and the rest of y'all that I was not putting down KY, I was just hurting for those that I know who are having a tough time.

I have had neighbors elsewhere in my life and they were very welcoming...they had brought us cookies, brownies, cakes,.... introduced their children....asked what kind of sports the kids play and so on.....but here in Eastern Kentucky, not northern civilization, people turned their head to you...

Louisville is probably the least Southern area of Kentucky.. but I sure found it to be Southern when I visited.. maybe because I spent my childhood on Long Island.

I take it you didn't go to Northern Kentucky? Not that it isn't Southern at all, just that it is the least because of its proxmity to Cincinatti.
I do believe that the OP was asking if Kentuckians, not if other states, consider Kentuckians Southern and it is an overwhelming YES!

I find it ironic that people consider Kentucky Southern- when it wasn't even part of the Confederacy. But I did think the people were nice. It just didnt feel Southern to this Virginian
What do Y'all think?

did you know that kentucky was once a county belonging to virginia ,just thought i would let you in on that
