Default Destructive winds moving into Kentucky

First Ike, then the Ice Storm and not destructive winds! With the 1000's if not 1,000,000's of widow makers hanging in trees should see more power outages. I know in my yard along I have well over 100 of them and some are HUGE.

This is just what we need now ... high winds and many still do not have power restored yet.

High Wind Warning and Late Night Storms - Local 6 WPSD

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 5 PM CST WEDNESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 5 PM CST WEDNESDAY FOR
ALL OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS...SOUTHWEST INDIANA
AND WESTERN KENTUCKY. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS ARE FORECAST TO INCREASE LATE TONIGHT
AND BECOME STRONG AND GUSTY WEDNESDAY. LATE TONIGHT...WINDS WILL
INCREASE TO 15 TO 30 MPH WITH A FEW GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH AT TIMES.
IN ADDITION...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS ESPECIALLY LATE TONIGHT...WHICH MAY RESULT IN EVEN
STRONGER WINDS AT TIMES.

A BAND OF STRONG TO POSSIBLY SEVERE STORMS WILL MOVE RAPIDLY
NORTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION WEDNESDAY MORNING...THUS THE THREAT
FOR STRONG WIND GUSTS WILL CONTINUE. BEHIND THE SHOWERS AND
STORMS...NON THUNDERSTORM GRADIENT WINDS ARE FORECAST TO INCREASE
AND BECOME SOUTHWEST. SPEEDS OF 20 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH
ARE EXPECTED. THE WINDS SHOULD GRADUALLY DIMINISH DURING THE MID
TO LATE AFTERNOON HOURS.

THIS HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT...BECAUSE OF THE HAZARDOUS
CONDITIONS THAT MAY RESULT FROM THE EXPECTED STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS.
THE RECENT ICE STORM THAT AFFECTED WESTERN KENTUCKY...AND PORTIONS
OF FAR SOUTHERN ILLINOIS...SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
LEFT SOME TREES IN A WEAKENED STATE...WITH MANY LOOSE HANGING
LIMBS AND BRANCHES. THE WINDS MAY RESULT IN NEW POWER OUTAGES FOR
SOME AREAS...AND RESULT IN MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE AS WELL. BE
CAUTIOUS IF YOU MUST TRAVEL LATE TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW. LIMBS OR
EVEN WEAKENED TREES COULD COME DOWN ON AREA ROADWAYS.

I've got the generator all gassed up. If you paid a wind more than 8 mph with WKRECC lines, it spells certain outage.

When we bought our house I wished we had shade trees in the yard. Now I'm thankful we don't!

At least the temperatures will be higher. That will help if we do loose power. Try to stay in and be safe, everyone.

My husband just got released from storm damage at work to go back to his regular contract. Now they're being told hang on, cause depending on how this storm hits they may go back to storm damage.

I drove to town while ago and watched a trampoline blow across the road. I'm listening to my scanner and a sheriff deputy just called in a utility pole almost in the road. Didn't hear where. At least we still have power. Census, I can believe those wind gusts. Seems like every now and then you can hear something like something hitting the house when one of those gusts come up.

I am off work today, have been at the house all day. I live on a ridge overlooking a valley, so it's more windy up here and it's been bad too! The line of storms haven't even got here yet.

You'll get it soon enough, we've had gust of 80 mph here and guess what the power is out again! So much for the new improved power grid, I'm back on a generator.

EDIT: Man I just went out side to get the mail it's a long walk and was nearly blew away ... limbs falling new limbs breaking, leaves hitting you like rocks. No rain anymore but the wind is hollowing hard. Power came back on and then off again ... been doing it all day.
