You can't help yourself can you, to take a swipe at "rural" any chance you get? You know you're the KY moderator and really should be less localized, as you clearly seem to have a great dislike for all things NOT Louisville.
The guy is from Shelbyville, not exactly the backwoods hollers us toothless hicks live in trailers, fearin' them girlie men and marrin' ar sisters while thumpin' our Bibles live.
The article said if you read it ...
"are not cohabiting outside of a marriage that is legally valid in Kentucky."
"legislation would affect both same-sex couples and unmarried heterosexual couples."
Why this is needed I do not know it's already covered in KRS 199.470 as I stated earlier.
I'm sorry Stx, but I've seen to many post of you disrespecting the rural parts of Kentucky one to many times. We're not all regressive, homophobic, evangelical, meth mouth, shack dwellers you seem to think we are ... some of us actually have running water IN THE HOUSE and electricity ... shocking I know.

Yet again somebody comes on here and complains about a state they CHOSE to move to. Kentucky as a whole is a Conservative christian red state. Yes there are pockets of "liberal" but it has yet to take the state over. I'm sorry but those of you who don't like it, well, you know what I say. Has it even crossed y'all's minds that maybe the reason they rather married is that the idea is it will be a more stable family? Not that is always is but to me it makes sense. This state voted to ban gay marriage, what makes you think they would allow for gay adoption? Right, wrong of indifferent, it shouldn't be suprising and dang it if ya don't like it, you sure as heck aren't locked in!
Sorry if this seems hateful, it's just frustrating!

I agree. There is more to Kentucky than Louisville.

How does evangelical belong in this list? Seems not to quite belong...

Because some folks seem to think we rural Kentuckians are all Bible thumper's that can trace our family tree back to Adam and Eve. That every decision or option we have is based solely on Biblical teaching and we spend all day and night clinging to our guns and religion.
And that somehow there is no abstract or diverse thought anyplace outside of a metro area, since we are all ignorant, narrow minded, regressive, uneducated, (insert any demeaning term here) backwards rural inbred God fearing, hick.
Therefore evangelical applies, absolutely nothing wrong with being a evangelical Christian, but not every person in rural KY is one, in fact I know a lot of atheist, deist, and various other religions (not denominations, but religions) here in rural Kentucky. So that is a stereotype.

Great points, Missy. You are being refreshingly honest and I also agree with you. If people don't like Ketucky, nobody is holding them hostage.

I see it over and over again not just on this thread but for other states like us. People move to them and then complain they don't like what it's like. I guess I am one to think when in Rome...

No problem, I'm sure I could have used more tack and diplomacy in my thoughts ... but who would believe me if I did that?
