Interesting... Jefferson County is getting ONE THIRD of the stimulus spending for the state ($653 mil / $1.5 billion)
Also of interest is that KY is getting 524 projects, that's 10th most among the 50 states.

in Louisville...
* a shared bike path on Southern Parkway - there already is one!!
* $10 MILLION to repave 143 miles of roads - whoopty doo
a quick glance Lexington doesn't seem to have any noticable super pork

The southwest parkway in Bowling Green will go through one of our larger industrial parks and give easier access to the Natcher Parkway and I-65 and will also tie into the rail system that runs near the industrial park. It will be attractive to future industries.

------" Anyone else smell pork"?-----
The stimulus bill is full of pork.
I recall a US congressmen rationalizing the stimulus bill by stating-------" Yes, there are some bad things in this bill, but every bill has some bad things im it "
With that attitude, I fear for our country long term.

It needs to be noted that these were candidate projects, a large portion of these will not be funded. The city and state were throwing out different possible projects to see what would stick and what was possible.
No one is yet totally sure which projects will be done and which will be axed.

I'm willing to bet they will accept as many of them as possible and they will be full steam ahead on them in 2010 (Congressional Election year for some) and 2011-2012 Presidential Election run up.
They've already said most will not go into effect until 2010 and later, so what was the rush?
