Question Gas pack~what is this and how does it work?

I am seeing quite a few homes in Kentucky with a gas pack. I am unfamiliar with this term and wonder if anyone can explain how this works, and what the concept is.

Is this as good as a regular furnace????? Do you need a propane tank to keep it running????

Any info would be much appreciated!

Gas pack has gas furnace and AC all in one unit that is on outside and duct work runs under house.

Frankly I don't like them, they are not as efficient. Putting the heating and cooling unit outside means you have a duct penetration through your perimeter wall. This must be well insulated and sealed, and even if that is accomplished, it will deteriorate over time. It is much better to put the air handler in conditioned space
