The BBQ Capitol is in my backyard ... and now after the ice storm I have lot and lots of various woods for smoking. Oak, Hickory, Maple, Pecan, Apple and Peach.

I never thought Moonlite was all that, there are dozens of small BBQ operators that make much better BBQ IMHO.

If Owensboro is truly the Barbeque Capital then I would love to go and have lunch in Owensboro one day during my trip!

My trip through Owensboro was about a month ago. We ended up having lunch at the Moonlite Barbeque. Man was that delicious!

hughdogg6 is on a distinguished road
The difference between Moonlite Barbeque and Old Hickory is the difference between a four star restaurant and a truck stop. While both serve up excellent barbeque, Moonlite offers a famous buffet which gives you much more choices. For example at Old Hickory if you want to try mutton you have to order mutton. Same with chicken and pork. Moonlite has all of these on their buffet plus a variety of other wonderful stuff (including other meats and fish). If Moonlite weren't famous for their barbeque then they'd be famous for their banana pudding (exactly like Grandma's). I eat in Owensboro at least once a week and for my money, it's Moonlite.

Their banana pudding was good but not as good as moms!
