Default People in Northern Kentucky! Could you help me lol?

I'm in college and moving to NKY to finish up at NKU. I have looked at a lot of apts, but not being from the area, I can't say I truly know wherethe bad areas are. In general I suppose I am asking where not to look instead of where to look, although any ideas I am open to looking at if I havn't already.

Try this Website for aparments: NKYRents.com - Northern Kentucky Apartments, Condominiums & Houses For Rent - Rental Property Listings & Rentals.

I suggest you search in Highland Heights, Cold Spring, Ft. Thomas, Alexandria, and Wilder. All of these are good neighborhoods that are close to NKU's campus. Southgate has some more gritty areas, but you can probably find cheaper rent there.

RuralGuy's advice is right-on concerning the neighborhoods. Avoid Newport and Covington.

Ruralguy is exactly right. OMP: Cold Spring and Highland Heights are your best bet in terms of being within walking distance of the campus! I hope you like it here and are able to find the perfect apartment. Welcome!

Agreed.

Wilder and Southgate are not bad options, either. In fact, Wilder is closer to campus than Cold Spring.

Highland Heights would be your best choice for apartments, though, b/c that's where NKU is located. The other communities are almost entirely single-family housing, but you can find some real winners if you know where to look (Cincinnati Enquirer website, Craigslist, etc.)

All of the prior posters are pretty much spot on. Actually, Newport and Covington close to the river are OK...but you probably wouldn't be able to afford the rent.

Under the circumstances, I'd stay as close to campus as possible. Highland Heights, Cold Spring and Wilder are all nice, affordable communities.

I have found absolute bargains in Butler, Ky., a short drive up US 27 to NKU. Ordinarily I wouldn't be willing to rent that far from campus, but nice 2 bedroom apts. in good areas are going for $400/month.

I drive between Butler and NKU every day as part of a much longer commute (Falmouth to northern Cincinnati). I think most people would consider the drive from Butler to NKU somewhat long. It's only about 20 miles from Butler to the campus, but if you drive that stretch during the morning or afternoon rush hour, it could take up to 45 minutes to commute each way.
