Come on to western Kentucky! Anywhere from Paducah to Hopkinsville to Henderson. You'll be close to Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. Kentucky Lake is the largest man made lake east of the Mississippi River at 160,000 acres and Barkley only covers 58,000 acres. Plenty of fishing, hiking, sightseeing. Plenty of festivals around the area. Cadiz has a farmer's market on weekends in the downtown area. I live in Cadiz, which is in Trigg County and there is no leash law in the county. Several counties and towns do have a leash law. There are plenty of "home cooking" restaurants. Come and check us out.
But, like I've always said, there are 120 counties to decide between in the state. There is sure to be one you like!

Why wouldnt someone want to move from Colorado to Kentucky? I visited Colorado and granted its beautiful..... Its wasnt THAT impressive. Honestly I would look around Ashland or possibly Grant county in between Northern Kentucky and Lexington. Maybe even Paris? There are tons of nice towns in this state that are easily accessible to metropolitain area amenities yet not congested. I myself think Paris is one of the most charming towns I have ever been to.

Kentuckians think of Louisville as a big city, but compared to Chicago - it's much smaller and cleaner. Louisville has become ranked large, as it now encompases most of the county, as far as on the map - but only downtown is large. Check the Courier Journal online for employment info. Many neighborhoods in louisville are what you are looking for, and within 30 minutes of downtown, if employed there. The Gene Snyder (major highway here) exits/neighborhoods have what you are looking for, without being too small to have diverse culinary options. Mount Washington is a close neighborhood that is beautiful - yet easy access to most major highways. Check it out.

pickem, if you look back a couple messages you would see I mentioned western Kentucky anywhere from Paducah... and it's not a big city like Louisville is.

I am moving from Southern Calif. to Russellville, Ky. and I have never been to Ky. My ancestors are from all over in Kentucky. I can no longer afford to live in So. Calif. Ky has given me a chance to be a home owner again, and I have gotten a great loan, and with all the incentives that the government is giving this year, it is a great time to buy a house. All of the people I have met on several boards from Ky. have been the kindest, most interesting, considerate people I have ever met. To live around people like this will be such a treat for me, I won't know how to act....when someone is kind without having a motive. Kentucky is under-rated as a state as far as I am concerned. If more people took the time to find out about Kentucky, it would be standing room only, and there would not be enough space left for me!!!! Lucky I found out about it when I did!!!!! I can't wait to get moved and settled, and begin a gentler, friendlier, and move involved life in Kentucky....I want to pass on the love of my new state and town to others wondering what Kentucky has to offer.....so much, I can not put it all into words yet...

The folks in KY will give ya the shirts off their backs...and then some.
The kindest, warmhearted people that you'll ever meet. That "down home" lifestyle is ingrained in their psyche; have some sweet tea on the front porch.
Ifya should have a "calamity" while living there, watch the good folks come out of the woodwork to help ya.
Enjoy.

Dear "Thinking of Moving"
I moved to Ky about eleven years ago... First to Ludlow, Ky. then to Newport, Ky. then to Dayton, Ky where I bought a home. My twin sister now lives in that home since I sold it to her and moved to Morning View, Ky... About twenty miles south of her. I am secluded from everything here but only about eight minutes from everything I need. I have twelve acers of land and very nice neighbors who just wave as I drive out... I know them all and they know me but Since my husband died of cancer last May and I have dealt with my own bit of cancer just reacently I don't think they really know how to talk to me anymore... Still they are the very best of people...
As for the area... I am less than thirty minutes from down town Cincinnati and I could not feel farther from everything... It is a quiet country feel where everyone knows everyone and the pharmacy owners know your first name... It is not Mayberry but it is home when you get here! I love driving in the area, I love walking in the area, I feel safe living alone in the area.
It is beautiful in the spring, summer, fall and winter... The only thing you need is a four wheel drive and it is heaven on earth... the wild life here is wonderful!

Just far enough away... while being just close enough for conveinence!!!
Where I live in Morning View is located between Independence, Ky and Alexandrea, Ky. about 10 minutes from either and is just a peaceful and wonderful place to live.

Easy. Too many of the California liberals moved to Colorado to escape the stinking mess they created. The problem is that they have started to create their new mess in Colorado. The conservative folks are not happy.
