Thank Miss Blue, and Jamie40829. Miss Blue I am terribly sorry to hear about your home. I wish we did live there so we could help you. My husband is a fine man, they don't make them like him anymore. Thank you both for your advice let me know of any other ideas you have! Take Care, GOD BLESS!

Yes, there are catholic churchs in eastern kentucky, but they're rare. Let me remind you, eastern kentucky is known as the HEART of the Bible Belt...some hard core, Jesus/faith loving people. So in conclusion, what I'm saying, is that it's primarily made up of Baptists (again, primarily). I know the county that I live in, there's only one catholic church (extremely small building), and over 35 baptist churches (county-wide), so as far as having a large catholic community like the baptists have, it isn't likely. I'm sorry

Miss Blue, I am so sorry to see what you all have been through. I hope you get someone to help with constuction. I know things like that are stressful to deal with.

On the Catholic question, Louisville, Owensboro and possibly Lexington probably have the most Catholics in their areas. As someone stated, the more rural areas of Kentucky are mostly various Baptist, Methodist, and some Church of Christ denominations. I would think each city or town has at least one Catholic church though.

There is one Catholic School in Pikeville..It is K-6th grade..There is also a Christian School , K-8 grade..We don't have a huge Catholic population here but they are a great asset to our community and are very active in our community charities and their own sponsored charities

Bardstown/St. Francis also has a heavy Catholic presence and lovely rural areas. I'm unfamilar with the employment opportunities there, but perhaps someone can join in with some info on that.

Thank you for you advice letting me know where to start! I know looking for Catholic areas in the south are few and far between, I grew up in Jessamine County, KY, but I am a recent convert to the Catholic Faith. Thank you Miss Blue for all your info. Pikeville looks like it could be a good move. We are also thinking of volunteering for the Christian Appalachian Project that serves eastern KY. I do hope things for your home are getting better!
God be with you!
