Question Can anyone offer some help?

Deperate to get "Home"
I grew up in Nicholasville, Ky and ended up moving to Michigan about 9 years ago, and I want to get out of here so bad!!!!!! I want to get back to a place where I am not the only one with an accent! I don't want to hear the thumping of bass systems in cars, see teenagers with thier pants around thier ankles(who knew showin' yer skivvies would be "cool") Actually hear people say "yes ma'am" and "yes Sir" and THANK YOU!! I am only 27 so its not like I am talking about the 1950's South.
My husband and I have been wanting to move to Eastern Kentucky/Tennessee since we met 4 years ago. All we need is a job for him, and we can pack up! Its to the point where when we pass the highway we have to not look at it, cause we are wanting to hop on and head South, somethin' fierce!

My husband is a Carpenter. He was a Superintedent for 10 years and when the housing market fell in 2007 (3 months after we got married) He lost his job. He is working now, but we want to get outta Dodge!
I am a Southern girl stuck in the North! We are Catholic Christians, we are pretty conservative, but we love to pass a jar every now and then. We are the type that feel we were born 100 years late! We have common sense (something totally lacking in today's world!)

Are there Catholic Churches in rural Eastern Kentucky/Tennessee?

Does anyone know if there are needs for a Carpenter whom is highly skilled?(not just sayin' that cause he's my hubby, but he is damn good!)

Could he make it on his own if he were to work for himself?

Please can anyone help?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Come on down to Harlan. I myself lived in Michigan for a good deal of time and me and my family have adjusted just fine (albeit my parents are natives ). We have a decent catholic population here in my town with a couple of nice Catholic churches in the county. There is a huge need for SKILLED carpenters here in the county. I am getting ready to build myself and let me tell ya its been a job finding someone able and willing to do the work.

5/19/09 Hello BLG1007. Relax dear...I'm a graphic design student in the Boston,
MA area. I was born a "yankee"; but most of my roots run to the great state of Virginia...Richmond. I am an avid country music fan also. George Strait is going to play the Boston area, and I'm praying I have the money to go. May I suggest that you just relax and be yourself. Most "country" people are fine folks. Maybe some people in Michigan can learn a thing or two from you. If you've been able to take the Michigan winters...some good luck will come your way,and you'll probably be fine! Best Wishes: DazedInDesign

The bass thumpers and hip-hop fashions will be available for viewing (and hearing) no matter where you go, unfortunately. Including eastern Kentucky/Tennessee.

We were very fortunate to have lost only 2 rooms which sit about 6 steps below the rest of the house..Many of our neighbors and others all over East Ky have lost everything..We are strong, we are rebuilders and we help each other and the outside help has been tremendous and a blessing.Taken from our front porch
.

That's really bad blue. Is that your truck under water? Is FEMA helping you all?

That is my next door neighbors truck..We took our vehicles to a higher spot as the waters began to rise very fast..Our yard slopes slightly to the roadand sits a little farther back ..That is why we only had about 20 inches whereas the gray two story house just across the yard had 6 to 8 feet of water..Fema came in yesterday..They had to wait for all the "red tape", but Red Cross, Churches, Community action volunteers, utilities, etc were here as soon as they could put on their waders
