Default Estill Co. Ky

We are closing on a piece of property next week in Estill Co. We love the area and the property is beautiful. I do have some concerns about the schools system in Estill. Can anyone tell me about the school system? Should I start looking for private schools?? I am really concerned about the middle school and high school.

I am from Irvine, 20 years old.......The school is really bad, they pretty much let you do anything. I went to school in Lee and I wouldn't change that, if you are close enough I suggest that. MSG me if you want to know more details.

I am from Irvine too. It is a laid back school , but don't let people put into your head that it isn't a good school. It isn't all that bad, there are some great teachers there, but we are kinda laid back. The drug test all the teachers now and they have a K-9 unit that visits the school so people want assume the worse when maybe they are the ones who need the help. I also have some property if you know anyone who wants to settle here in Estill Co. it is a cool little town and good cops, good judges, there are always gonna be the low class where ever you may go. Over all I think you and anyone would love this little town.

136 acres more or less farm with 100 year old barn in very good condition and wooded shed, water, electric, flat and bottom land, hills and alot of timber such as cherry trees, oak, walnut and cedar, and plenty of wood for fireplace. Springs, water well and city water, several sites already cleared for building, private road backs up to creek in the bottoms, no neighbors can been seen or heard. Plenty of blackberries, turkey, deer, etc... good hunting ground or personal dwelling or establishment for cabins for retreat. Mail route, approx. 3.5 miles from nearest grocery store and 9 miles from city limits and 6 miles from Interstate I-64 and Natural Bridge state Park. Surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest. Perfect place to raise children without worry! The bottoms are accessible with 4wheeler, 4wheel drive, horseback, walking. My grandfather raised Tobacco and Corn in these bottoms. Limestone, mushrooms, sassafras, mullin, gensang, and other wild herbs.

2 bedroom 1 bath siding house sitting on one acre with a workshop has heating and electric. Large rooms, large closets, triple insulated, open floor plan, large fireplace gas heating stove and electric heating and air, bar, patio, sidewalk around entire house and sidewalk leading from house to driveway. Anderson insulated windows. French doors leading out to the patio. Large kitchen with lots of cabinets. Double vanity with large mirror in bathroom. Washer and dryer hookup, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. It's a cozy house ! City water or cistern and water well. A 2 room workshop building or mother in law quaters with heat and electric. Plenty of parking surrounded by blackberries and beautiful wild flowers and trees. Security light.

*note the windows in this house are above standard size
*note there is a seperate septic and electric on this acreage too. The workshop is seperate electric too. Total of 3.

5 wooded acres this acreage sits behind the house and workshop building.

3.7 more or less acreage across the road from the house area slightly hill and flat area for building, very pretty.

All this property has a private road and has not been hunted on in many years. There are now grants through the State Gov. office to restore old barns this one has the original tin roof. Very good condition and over 100 years old. It was built by my grand father and the road was built by him and my father. The road is in excellent condition also. Very private property and has unlimited possibilities for your own privacy or to build cabins for vacation rentals or to establish a community. It is one of the most sought after properties in this area known for the beauty. It is a little grown up right now, but with the proper eye you could see the beauty. If you are interested in this property and would like to view it please make an appointment by emailing me and pictures will be added soon.

Would sell as a whole or divided as farm136 acres and 3.7 acres.
House with one acre plus 3.7 acres and 5 acres.

I am from Irvine as well. Currently reside in NKY and miss every minute of it. The Estill County School system is not bad. You will find your mix of wonderful strict teachers as well as wonderful laid back teachers as well as the bad. Both middle and high schools have great principals who care about their students. Estill County is beautiful and a great place to live. The only thing that is bad is the job market. Most high-paying jobs will be in Madison and Fayette counties.

Thanks for the posts..we have started building and we absolutely love it there. We have yet to visit the school but we will this year once school is in session. I agree that there are always low class folks around but everyone we have come in contact with so far have been wonderful.
