I-66 is needed to pump up the economy in the Wickliffe/Columbus KY, Sikeston MO area. Also Missouri and Kentucky should have a bridge directly connecting them.

I agree with you. I was born and raised in Mayfield and travelled over that bridge to Cairo many times. But they are looking at where it's cutting through the rest of the state I guess.

Exit 16 on I-24 is not near Paducah either. You have to get off and travel a fair distance just to get to Paducah. And Reidland is not Paducah even though people there try and pretend they are larger then they are.

We have gone through the I-66 issue, in at least two other threads here. Southern Illinois and Cape Girardeau MO, figure into the plot also. The Wickliffe-Sikeston route is far from being etched in stone.
At any rate, it's doubtful the road will ever be built. From a transcontinental perspective, the route would not serve any large population areas once west of the Mississipi River. It would be a pork barrel project, with comparatively little traffic.
If Kentucky wants a road, just extend the four laning of US60 to Wickliffe, and build a new bridge.
