Commute from Covington to Owenton
Looking to move to Northern KY and will be working in Owenton. I'm looking for 45min or under commute reasonable rent 600ish per month and a town where there is a population of 25-35 year olds. I am considering Covington. Anyone know of any towns further south that might fit my description? Or, what are the names of the southern Covington neighborhoods.
Thanks!

That's an awful commute.
Any of the Boone/Kenton County suburbs would be the same as Covington in terms of what you're looking for. Some are a little closer to Owenton (not much, but with that commute, every little bit helps).
I'm not sure why you insist on living in the big city and commuting to work - you won't have time to appreciate the amenities if you spend all your time on the road. Why not move to a smaller town with a college and just go to NKY or another town for your big city fix on the weekend. Your wallet would appreciate it, and you'd spend far less time in the car.
How about Frankfort or Georgetown?

I agree with DeoGratias on nearly every point, but to just enhance his thoughts, the good is that living in NKY and going south to work will be better as the main commute traffic flow is north in the morning and south in the evening.
If its just you with no additional family members, I feel you'll like to live north of Florence best, but with family, you'll like Walton, Verona, Dry Ridge, even Warsaw.

Thanks for the info. I'm single and in my early 30's, never lived in KY before and would like to live somewhere where there are things to do, ways to meet other people, and other people my age. Louisville from owenton seemed a little far so thought Cinci was the other major area.

Yes, you are wise to live in NKY rather than Louisville based on your wishes.

Driving from Louisville would be an even worse commute. Driving from Lexington wouldn't be easy or fun, but may be better than driving from NKY, depending on where you line and work in each respective area.
I hate how everybody on here spouts the idea that "all" the young people (or young professionals, depending on how it's phrased) are in the large metro areas. It's not true. And somehow, people all over America are meeting people, dating , and even getting married outside of large metro areas. It can be done.

Can anyone guesstimate what the commute time from Florence to OWenton would be?

40 minutes if you live directly on I-75 in Florence, drive 85 on the interstate, and don't get caught behind any schoolbuses or tractors once you're on the backroads of Owen County.
50 minutes is a more realistic "normal" time.
I'd budget an hour just in case something happened, so as to minimize the chances of being late to work.
