I would have to vote for Walden in Louisville. Not to say that any of the others are bad (they aren't), but I used to work with teachers at Walden and found the atmosphere outstanding. It is smaller and has a more unique vibe to it. If you have the time, take a tour and you will see what I mean. You will be able to tell pretty quickly if it is right for your family (vs some of the larger schools).

That said, have you considered any public schools? Jefferson and Fayette county both offer some outstanding public schools that receive national recognition. Some, especially in Jefferson, have magnet programs that are available to students throughout the county, so you don't have to live in-district. Of course, there are also horrible schools in each district, but I'm sure that we could help narrow it down for you!

thank you. we are always open to public, and our daughter is in a great public school right now, but private would be an option if we didn't find the right public school. we will need to research the public schools. as any parent, I worry about the upcoming high school years, and I want to find the right school. Our daughter is only six now, but I'm a planner I guess my dream for her is to be in a school where most if not all the kids are motivated and goal oriented. Coming from a large public school myself, I see that you can easily get lost in the crowd or gravitate toward less motivated peers. In the meantime, I want to keep all our options open. Another thing, is that if we choose private school we won't have to limit ourselves to the few select neighborhoods that have the best schools. We could actually buy a less expensive house.
