GoldvilleKy is on a distinguished road
Thumbs down Pig Pen Restaurant Pig, Ky

Born (Goldville, Fort Knox NCO housing), raised in Ky (Bowling Green) and left in 63 (last century). Recent trip back "Home" and my cousin in Smiths Grove told me about a little place in Pig that has the best half moon pies this side of heaven. Made a special trip from BG to try these pies and ran smack into the "ignorant hillbilly" that's so popular all across America. After saying I had heard about the wonderful pies and saying that I had come all the way from New Mexico to try them, I was informed by a very belligerent rude woman (was going to say lady, but keep reading) that "You ain't going to get none!" Not only that, but there was some question about me really being from New Mexico, like I had put NM plates on my van to trick her. Suppose she gets a lot of New Mexico customers in the "Pig Pen Restaurant" and doesn't like the people from down that way. Thinking she might be a transplant, I asked my cousins in Brownsville, Smiths Grove, Rocky Hill, Cave City and BG if they know her. Seems she's a local. Maybe just having a bad hair day, after all she was talking to the only other three people in her restaurant when her husband asked her if she had any pies left. I would like to introduce her to a little thing called the INTERNET and how it can be used to inform people about good and bad business places, assuming she is actually in business and not usually the "ignorant hillbilly" to customers. Did we get to try a pie, No. Will I ever go back, No. Will I tell everyone on the internet to avoid the 'Pig Pen Restaurant" at all cost, Yes. Does that hillbilly that shows up on old movies and in jokes really exist, Yes in Pig, Ky.

That is too bad. Some people in that neck of the woods are rather unfriendly to what they see as "outsiders". I used to work in sales in that area years ago and found some of the people that way. Most were nice but there was a clannishness in some people. Many of them don't care for anyone from Bowling Green. I would imagine another state would really get a bad reception...lol.
