Harrodsburg-hills?
My wife & I are considering relocating to Harrodsburg, KY. Are there hills in that area? We're originally from western KY, but have lived in the flat delta area of Memphis, TN. I desperately miss the hills of KY and want to go "home" to the Bluegrass state.
If anyone has pics of the Harrodsburg and surrounding areas, I'd love to see them. We're hoping to spend a weekend in Harrodsburg after I establish a time to interview with a local company I'm talking too.
Also, how is the drive between Harrodsburg and Lexington? My wife would likely work in Lexington. Are there any good places to live half way between these cities? 2000 sq ft + or -/1.5+ acres for $150k-170k would be idea, but is it possible for a nice home?

Well, Shaker Hill - Pleasant Valley is an historic Shaker town located in the Harrodsburg-Lexington corridor. It has some small, gently rolling hills, and you should be able to find a lot of scenic pictures of it online. Here is one site:

Check out Salvisa, KY. It's a very small town north of H'burg but it's right on the BlueGrass Parkway so it will be easier to get to Lexington.

Thanks! Is anyone familiar with Wilmore, KY off of Highway 68? That also looks like a half way point between Lexington & Harrodsburg.

I'm not familar with Wilmore, but it has to be one of the most highly educated communities in the state, maybe even the region. For the over-25 crowd, only 9% did not graduate from HS, 28% have a BS/BA, and 24% have graduate degrees if the data on this site (city-data.com city search) is to be believed.

I know that Wilmore is home to both Asbury College and Asbury Seminary so it's got lots of people in academia. I'd love to hear more about the town, myself, though! Is it an okay commute from Wilmore to Lexington or is it a headache??

Cool. My wife & I are in our late 20's with BS degrees, so that area may fit us well.

Wilmore is very focused on the seminary/college, so there are very educated residents associated with both. The thing that surprised me the most (as a public school teacher there) was the level of religious influence in the community. The school there is the only public school that I had encountered that regularly includes prayer as part of their official morning routine (although this was a few years ago). I was told not to schedule after-school events on Wednesday evenings because this was Church night. Very Christian-based community with a lot of influence from the seminary. Also the home of the Ichthus Music Festival - a large Christian music fest. Wilmore might be a great location if this appeals to you - if it doesn't, it will probably make you very uncomfortable.

The hills in Harrodsburg and Wilmore are more of the beginning rolling hills than what you find a bit farther east. Berea is located right on the edge of where the hills turn into "mountains".
The commute from Wilmore to Lexington would be a bit of a bear, a lot of two lane road involved. Harrodsburg is relatively flat.
The Hills really start just east of Lexington. Winchester in clark county is a short commute as are Richmond and Berea (where I live).

That's kinda disappointing about Harrodsburg being pretty flat I'm interviewing for a job in Harrodsburg, so we'll need to find something between there and Lexington-Winchester is out because of that.
