Default This is a political thought about Kentucky...

In the 2010 election, we will have the choice amongst several qualified candidates for US Senate in Kentucky. I am supporting Secretary of State Trey Grayson for many reasons, but I would also wish to support Dr. Rand Paul for Governor in 2011.

We need common sense in both the Senate and in Frankfort.

What do you think?

He's done some good charity work for which he should be highly commended. He also should get a lot of credit for being an early opponent of torture.

But let's be honest here -- you only think he has common sense if you are a conservative. Liberals and moderates may not be so quick to agree with you and it might not be a bad thing to recognize that. He is a far right Libertarian with some good ideas and some nutty ideas. (On the other hand, he's in the right state to run for office!) I think there are far more moderate and qualified candidates for Kentucky in both parties, including Trey Grayson.

In any case, do we have a political forum here where this would be more appropriate to discuss this?

We really need a small government conservative at the STATE level more than at the federal level. Our state is so ripe with completely needless pork barrel projects and the taxes for those projects make us less competitive than many nearby states for landing new businesses. I'd like to see Anne Northup as Gov because I think as a Louisville area resident she better understands how Kentucky's tax system makes us less competitive

"Kentucky," "intelligence" and "common sense" are not exactly synonomous. Kentucky's government inefficiency is a complete joke and we, as a state, DESERVE our stereotypes.

Maybe it's what keeps Kentucky's ratio of decent human beings high. I have stopped praising Kentucky wherever I go because I suddenly realized people might start moving there. THEN you'd see the consequences of "intelligence" and "common sense"!!
