Mine too. I use to go to Harlan every summer back in the 60"s. It was the bomb. I realize things have changed but, my people are buried there. I have very few relatives there now.

I'm from Harlan Co. - Cumberland, but I lived in Wallins for about 6 years. I like Harlan, and I go there alot because I just live down the road at Middlesboro. I like Bell Co. because we have a few more stores and it's closer to the interstate when you do have to travel.

Hi,
I was born in Harlan. Our family moved to Cincinnati when I was 3 but we visited frequently. My memories of Harlan in the 1960's and 70's are really nice and I always enjoy going back. It's unfortunate that the economy in that area isn't that great and there are some major issues with drugs.
Maybe something will come along and change things for the better. If anyone has older (pre-1980 or so) photos of the town that they can post I would enjoy seeing them.
Take care,
Steve

My dad's family is from around Harlan and Wallins. Harlan County is a beautiful area, but it can seem so isolated and lonely.

My grandparents lived in #1 in Lynch (that's how they named the sections of the town way back when...) My mom worked at the company store. My grandfather had a small grocery store in Cumberland. I would just LOVE to see pictures of Lynch!

Anyone in Harlan familiar with the Vowell family name?
Justy curious as I will me moving to North Carolina and plan on visiting Harlan. My dad was born and raised in Harlan until the age of 18 or so..
I was only there once in 1967 and visited family.
My dad's brother is buried in the local cemetery in Harlan and this is my chance to do some genealogical searching.
