Trout fishing western kentucky / Marion area
My wife and I have been narrowing down our ever growing area of nice rural places to raise a family and have repeatedly been drawn to the Marion area because of it's low crime and friendly people. I am a die-hard trout fisherman and really missing trout fishing living in south Florida. Are there any nice streams or areas where you can trout fish near Marion?? I know that the Ohio River is close, but I haven't found any other information of nice River's, creeks or lakes that have trout populations. This is making me lean towards the Burkesville area right now since it's near the Cumberland River. Any fisherman out in that area that can give me some information on trout near Western Kentucky would be appreciated...........I don't need any secret spots! Thanks.
Frank

WOW Jeff thanks for the list that is great. While reviewing it I do not see anything in Crittendon County at all, so would I be right to assume that Trigg County is probably the closest area with some trout streams??? Thanks again for the information.

I live in Trigg County and drove down by Casey Creek last week. Several people were leaving with trout. One man told me he caught his limit in a little over 30 minutes. Thought about going but I'll wait till next year to get my trout stamp. Can't see paying $10 now for a stamp when the season ends October 1.

I would think the life span of trout would be quite short in W. Kentucky due to the warm water temps? Seems E. Kentucky would be ideal with the higher elevation.

Capt Dan-
We really like East Kentucky as well and noticed that there is some amazing trout fishing as well. I guess since we are moving from South Florida we are considering Western Kentucky as the frozen tundra where every stream / river naturally holds trout. But the more research I do shows that the climate of Western Kentucky is actually quite mild..........so I am not sure if any of the streams hold year 'round trout asides from the two stockings that KYGMAN told me about. Either way at least there is some trout fishing up that way even part of the year when the water is cold enough. Thanks again for the replies............KYGMAN- I am assuming that if the guy limited out at Casey Creek that these trout might have survived the summer water temps????

When I went out there last week and saw what was being caught, the temps were in the 90s plus humidity. Casey Creek is well shaded.
