Default Airplane noise in Union, KY

Hey guys, great forum. Looking at houses in some neighborhoods in Union. Anyone who lives there that can tell me how bad or not bad the noise is? Looking at Triple Crown and Hempsteade neighborhoods particularly.

Thanks!

paucm0,

I won't lie, there is some noise, but it isn't really bad. Boone County has an international airport with a lot of freight traffic; you're going to get some noise no matter where you live. Hampshire, Hempstead, Triple Crown, Cedarwood, Ashwood, and Steeple Chase really never seemed to fall within a regular or common air traffic path... noise was pretty minimal.

On a side note...

I lived in both neighborhoods during middle and high school. Union is a great place for families with a strong school district and great accessibility to urban and rural diversions.

I think Triple Crown is a bit overpriced for what you pay for... The "Country Club" benefits are kind of "blah" when compared to other clubs in the area. There is a certain about of "prestige" you get for living there, but all of the McMansions look rather silly and the actual style of the homes there is, frankly, garish. Neighboring older homes on Richwood Road kind of make the whole neighborhood look gaudy and trashy.

Hempsteade isn't much better in housing design, but it is a smaller neighborhood and has a much better "community" feel to it. I preferred living there than in Triple Crown by leagues.

I'd buy a historic home in Newport... McMansions don't make anyone happy especially their owners.

well they might make some people happy. it's probably not cool to impose opinions like that on a board.
