Sorry about that. We aren't all narrow-minded and unfriendly. I personally welcome you to Kentucky with open arms. I love to find out how other people live and think. You can always learn something from those who live or think differently than you do. That's what the journey of life is about -living and learning until the end. I wish you luck in your studies, and awesome GPA!

Regulations only restrict law abiding citizens. Very, very rarely is a registered gun owner involved in a violent crime. The answer is much stiffer penalties for criminals using firearms in the commission of a crime.

As to the comment about liberals being better educated, I beg to differ. There are numerous studies on both sides of the table with opposite results, it is easy to pick which one you wish to believe. I happen to have a Master's degree. I also own about 20 firearms, all (except for my carry piece) are safely locked up in a large safe at home. I enjoy a cold beer from time to time. So far, miraculously, I have not had even the slightest urge to shoot someone.

LOL! I think some of our elected officials should have a "mental health test," not someone registering a gun.

Start at the White House with that mental health test.

Kentucky really needs to change.
Guns kill people...... like spoons make people fat!

Guns are simply a tool! Remove the guns and people will simply find a new tool! People who are hell bent on killing will not be stopped by simply taking away their guns.

No offense friend, but it would seem to me that you are the one with the "small views".

well this should ruffle some serious feathers, and I know this is true because I saw the ad in the coffee news in a restaurant. From a blog:

A Louisville barber is running a free gun promotion that some would assume to drum up business. But it appears he wants a little more from his customers than just a one-time haircut.

A customer at the Okolona barbershop will win a Romanian made AK-47. …

The more involved someone is with guns and gun rights, the more chances they have to win the $750 semi-automatic weapon.

“You get one ticket per customer. If you are an NRA member you get two. If you join the NRA you get six,” said Gooden.

Gooden said the promotion is not just about increasing business, though business is up.
“It’s not so much about the AK. It’s about the second amendment. That’s what I’m trying to do, raise awareness,” he said.

Apparently Gooden is a very outspoken supporter of our rights. The article says that his shop is decorated with hunting mounts and pro-gun hats. Good for Gooden.

The second and third place winners will get free gun permits.

Everyone is missing the point here. The founding fathers didn't write up the 2nd for hunters. They just got out of a war where their government restricted firearms. The point is so civilians can arm themselves so if a government tries to seize power it shouldn't have, civilians can take it back. My AR isn't for shooting game (although it is fun to plink with). My SKS isn't sighted for deer. It's for my own personal defense. If someone breaks into my house, I am not going to find out whether they intended to harm me or not, they will have to answer to a 7.62 center mass. I bought all these weapons legally, but I realize that criminals do not care about the gun laws, hence why they are criminals. And I know how you people feel about Bullitt County in this area, and I have a house out there, so that's another reason why I'm armed to the teeth.

And for the record, I'm one of the most socially liberal people I know.

I can't wait for when I come back to the states off my overseas stay, to go shooting at a range again. Knob Creek, here I come.
