According to the Washington Post the state coroner has confirmed that Sparkman did have "FEDS" written on his chest.

Sure is a very unusual case. Not enough being reported about this crime. Also, why has it taken so long to report since the discovery of the body? Who discovered the body? About the FED, how was it scrawled - with a sharp instrument, dirt, marker, paint, mud, blood, lipstick, or what?

The only reason why you are hearing anything about the case is because it's a national story. Usually Kentucky like to sweep crimes under the rug.

I was thinking that too. I've heard of plenty of messed up stuff going down "through the grapevine" over the years in the area that never made any news.

I bet if this guy wasn't a Gov worker and/or didn't have "Fed" written on his chest, none of us would be talking about it right now (cause we wouldn't know). But because all the anti-Gov stuff lately & the fact that it happened in such a red (dominant Republican) area, the media's all over it like flies on dookie.

Man, this just gets sickening worse.

Quote:
BIG CREEK, Ky. – A part-time census worker found hanging in a rural Kentucky cemetery was naked, gagged and had his hands and feet bound with duct tape, said an Ohio man who discovered the body two weeks ago.

Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio, told The Associated Press on Friday that he was among a group of relatives who discovered the body of 51-year-old Bill Sparkman on Sept. 12.

"The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something.

"And they even had duct tape around his neck. And they had like his identification tag on his neck. They had it duct-taped to the side of his neck, on the right side, almost on his right shoulder."
Witness: Census worker's hanging body naked, bound - Yahoo! News

If this is accurate, this certainly shoots down any suicide theory. And it shoots the hell out of the assertion that the killers weren't aware of who this guy was. In fact, it looks like they went out of their way to make that point.

This happened in Clay County.

Not surprising, it is the bastion of backwards in an entirely backwards Commonwealth. Gee, wonder how THIS will make Kentucky look. Can't blame Diane Sawyer.

I knew I heard about this place before, and lo & behold a quick google search yields this Courier-Journal story...

Public Corruption has found a home in Clay County
MANCHESTER, Ky. -- A recent edition of the local newspaper, the Manchester Enterprise, bore the front-page headline: "FBI: here or not? Nobody's saying."

But the FBI has been here in force during the last few years, no question. And it has said plenty -- obtaining the convictions of a dozen public officials on drug or corruption charges, and the recent indictment of six other officials, plus the owners of a local sanitation company, in connection with a far-reaching alleged conspiracy to commit vote fraud.

Court records in the recent case, now pending, also identify several other well-known local residents, including current or former elected officials, who allegedly committed vote fraud or other illegal acts, though they haven't been charged.

Manchester has long been a place full of corruption. From mayors to police, that place needs cleaned up.

Manchester has long been nicknamed "Gunchester." The level of political corruption in CC is off the charts. Combine corruption, a majority of uneducated people, drugs, murder and you have the perfect recipe for one hellhole of a county. I think the FBI should go in some of these hollers with guns blazing and clean this nasty place up.
