Question Ashland and surrounding areas

Hi all. My husband is being relocated due to his job. We are moving (including my four boys) from St. Louis MO to West Virginia/Ohio/Kentucky. In that tri-state convergence area. The closer to Huntington WV the better. I am looking for a nice suburban area that is safe and has young families and isn't in the boonies. I am looking for houses in the $200,000- $300,000 area and there must be close by chain stores. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm interested in the Ashland area and maybe South Shore or Little Sandy or Sandy Hook.

Thanks for any and all info!

The area along Boy Scout Rd in Ashland is nice.
