Got to put my 2 cents in about rent to own. I would avoid that option. If you must do a rent to own, PLEASE have an attorney review the contract before you sign. There are a lot of landlords who have made a lot of money by never selling the house. I once talked to a low life slum lord in Lexington who actaully was bragging that one of his houses have paid for itself twice from all the money people have given him on a rent to own senario.

What happens if the seller gets foreclosed while you are renting to own?

What if the seller dies? Divorces? Declares Bankruptcy?

All this possible situations will either leave you without the house or cost you a lot of money to defend your interest in the house.

Assuming you're interesting in 'just renting', there are a few web sites that can assist but the best one I've seen is the Ft Knox newspaper (The Turret) since they have a lot of readers that are interested in renting houses vs. apartments. The homes for rent (in their paper) range from Hodgenville, E'town, all the way to Louisville.
