and because you say you can't be converted but will take prayers.

I don't do well in taking authority from school boards, the US Government, local law enforcement, my husband or any other entity that believes it has power over me. I do allow my husband to have the upper hand on occasion just so he can keep his testerone level up.

AND.....speaking as an agnostic (please don't confuse that with devil worshipping or atheism, people!), The Bible As Literature was one of my favorite classes in grad school. It is possible to appreciate others beliefs without agreeing with them. I think erikp made a good analogy with the sports issue.
I still have the Bible my mom and dad gave me when I was a kid. The book of Ecclesiastes is pure poetry...If someone forbade it, I would probably wear it on my shirt, just to be ornery. Thanks Beilart.

Yea, but prayers are prayers and we all need them once in a while no matter which "god" the person doing the praying believes answers.

Don't worry, Kentucky is full of people who don't care what you do as long as you're white. Apparently.

Religion in KY
While I certainly understand your concerns about religion in Kentucky, maybe we should take another angle. I, personally, shall not do more than express my friendship to you. As a result of that friendship, I may wish to know all about you, including your personal feelings about faith, religion, and causes.
If I inquire about your religion, instead of being angry that I asked, a person with your obvious logical intelligence would instead feel honored that someone dared to care about you for no really obvious reason. You would see it as a compliment and instead of being frustrated, even angry, you would recognize that Kentuckians truly are team players and care about our neighbors. Now, for some unexplainable reason, that "brotherly love" comes from the New Testament. Interesting, if you think about it.
Now, let me ask you this, what if one of us is wrong about our faith? I can't prove my faith, nor can you prove my faith is bogus. If I am wrong, no big deal, but if you are wrong...... I wonder.

You have said so much in those words, but I don't think you have a clue as to what you really said.

Oh, I think I do. At my age, which is well into my 60's now, I have learned that there are some things that do not set with me as well as they might have when I was in my 20's and had not yet acquired the wisdom I have today. With age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes an understanding that many things are not as they appear to be.
