Exclamation Make sure you know what is being taught and/or presented in your child's high school classes

Ask your KY high school student what is being taught, also ask them about any organizations who come to their classes and make "presentations."
You might be surprised.
Make sure you know what is going on.
I'll leave it at that.

Has it gotten that bad? I have been retired from teaching for almost 11 years so I haven't kept up much with what is going on. The teachers I know around here don't say much about presentations. They have the usual complaints, drugs, lack of discipline, gangs, etc... As for what is not being taught in school these days.....pick a subject and I can assure you, it will be lacking.

Default Homeschool!

One of the things I find most attractive about Kentucky is that it is a homeschooling friendly state. That's a big plus in my book.

BTW--I was a HS English teacher. I regard the system as broken beyond repair.

I taught HS English as well. The system is indeed broken with plenty of blame to go around. I think home schooling is a good alternative as long as the parents are devoted to giving the best to the child academically as well as seeing to the social needs.
