Smile FL to Leitchfield, KY

Hello,

My husband and I bought some land about 8 miles N. of Leitchfield. We are currently in FL, and bought the land site unseen because of timing, we couldn't co-ordinate the days to drive there, but we've owned it for a couple of years now. We are planning on moving in about a year, and are starting research on jobs and apartments or houses that we can rent while we build a house on our land.

Can anyone help me out on what areas are close by that are decent to live? I have 2 little girls ages 2 and 4 and I am pregnant with another that will be born before we make the move.

Also can someone help me out with where to look to find a place to rent (preferable a house rental with 4 or 5 bedrooms). I've been searching the internet and haven't had any luck with looking for jobs and homes.

Thanks for any and all help.
Krista

Default Oooof....

My wife and I made the HUGE mistake of moving to the Leitchfield area when we first moved from Northern IL (job opportunity for the wife).

Considering that we both enjoy actually *doing* things, we quickly left Leitchfield to move to the Louisville area.

I'm sorry, but there is next to nothing there. No jobs...no restaurants...no entertainment. Just lots of countryside. Louisville is about 1.25 hours away.
Elizabethtown is about 30 minutes away...and is your typical stripmall/fast food kind of place, with a cute downtown area.

Forgot to answer your questions:

Finding a place to rent there is VERY tough. Been there, done that. Had to settle for a 3 bedroom in a very poor area. As far as jobs...next to nothing. Depends on the type of work you're looking for....but I know of a couple of factories in the area.

I sure hope Dowdy Pants didn't ruin your image of Leitchfield. I go there for work all the time and it is very close to Elizabethtown, which has everything you could possibly want from restaurants to a small mall to Home Depot and Lowes. I love it there! Low crime and low taxes. I live in Breckinridge and would much rather live in Leitchfield as far as things to do. Also, Bowling Green is not far from Leitchfield and they too will have everything you need. We came from Florida also and love it here and I am sure you will too. Contact a realtor for rentals.
