Hi:

There is a chance that my wife will be taking a government job in Pine Knot, KY (not with the prison). Anyhow - it would be a great opportunity for her.

We both finished school in 2008. She is a teacher and I am an a lawyer. I am not licensed to practice in Kentucky and so I am open to a lot of different careers. i'd actually like to try something different anyhow.

My question is: If she takes this job in Pine Knot, KY...where should we live/where should I be looking for work?

It looks like Knoxville, TN is the closest big city to the south and Lexington is the closest big city to the north. I come from the east so an hour commute is fine with me.

We realize that to accommodate both of us, we'll both likely being doing a commute. I'd really rather my wife not being commuting more than 30 minutes though.

Where is the best place to be looking for jobs as a young professional? How much snow do these areas I mentioned above get? Will I be able to do these big areas as a commute? Are there other, smaller areas, with jobs where I can look?

Also with that in mind, where would you suggest living? We're in our 20's - and lifetime east-coasters. We want to fit in where we live. We keep to ourselves usually and aren't snobby.

Any and all advice is great. Thanks a ton!!

Somerset is the closest big town. Pine Knot is in McCreary County, which is very rural. You will be close to the very beautiful Cumberland Falls at least. A lot of people that live in McCreary County work in Somerset.
