Hi..i'm looking for a horse property( 20 acres or so) in KY with a farmhouse. I need to live in a place with big hills, conservative politics, traditional schools, country-western music, down-to-earth folks, and space. I'd like to be no more than 10 minutes out of a small town that has various shopping..don't need shopping malls though. Plus...a big one...is safety. If you own a house that fits the bill, please contact me.

Appreciate your help. Thanks.

My grandma's estate is for sale 9 miles outside of Russell Springs and only 20 miles from Somerset KY. I'm thinking it was around 50 acres, unless it is subdivided, with an asking price of $150,000(?). The creek part of the farm has a barn and a house site. The ridge part has a house. It may be sold together or separately.

If you need any other information about properties down there, I have a cousin who is a real estate agent and could help you out.

Is that anywhere near the 127 corridor? It seems like I saw one for sale like that during the yard sale

What do you mean by BBQ place?

There was a shed on top of the cellar that my Grandpa used to cure ham in. Is that what you mean?

No, during the 127 yard sale the house I am referring to had a big yard sale on it plus a BBQ place set up a booth there too.

That's a nice area. We share a vacation cabin with friends not far away in Eli. I'm always amazed by the low cost of property near Lake Cumberland.

About the only drawback I see to this area is that it's in the heart of dry Kentucky and you have to drive an hour north or south to buy alcohol (legally). I know quite a few people down there who make insanely huge liquor runs periodically so that they can stock up. I also have in-laws on the south side of Lake Cumberland in McCreary county (on the border with Tennessee). I chuckle when I remember that immediately across the border on US 27, you're suddenly confronted by a collection of liquor stores and bars in what is essentially the middle of nowhere.

Sounds like a lot of nice areas in KY. I read this one post from a left wing nut. If he thinks owning guns, God, and morality are negatives...well, I couldn't think of a more attractive place to be.
