Good One Davart! Let the bourbon trail begin...at your place. I do enjoy a brand I like called Kentucky Walker, from Bardstown, at only $14.98 for 1.75 ltr. it's pretty decent. Oh, I got my days screwed up. I'm arriving in Maysville in 6/23 at the butt-crack of dawn. Hope Amtrak can hook me up with a car rental. I also read about hte 2.5 hr dinner train ride out of Bardstown, a bit spendy by the reviews. I got this thing about trains, Kilted Son go where choo-choo go. So yes, the Burgoo & Hotbrown are top of my list. What kind of local beer is produced in Kentucky? Microbrews? I also like small batch Bourbons like Bullit, Kentucky Vintage, Woodford Reserve, Makers, Knob, & certainly don't mind hooch or shine. How about Warm Apple Pie, Strawberry Shortcake, & Peach Cobbler? (the kind that come in a mason jar) I checked out the Maysville town website, & it appears to have some attractions & fair dining venues.
As I mentioned, I LOVE Turkey gizzards, & yeah, I wrap livers & gizzards, meatballs, shrimp with Gorganzola in either apple or maple or peppered thick slice bacon. But definetely the Gizzards! What kind of fishing y'all got out there?

Maysville? That's a long way from Mayfield, Amtrack does go through Fulton, KY about 30 miles from here. But the down side is it comes through at 3AM and it's a self sever station.
AS for bourbon ... Makers Marks nearly all others are a sin against corn.
Microbrews, not that many around here that I know of, likely some around Louisville/Lexington we're more into bourbon.
Fishing depends on what part if the state, we have about all types except sea fishing here. Warm water fish (Bass, Crappie, etc) in the west, cold water fish (Trout, Pike etc) in the east. You can find warm water fish all iver the state.
I prefer Catfish, Bluegill and Crappie, they're the best eating IMHO.
Well if you get to the western end of the state, give me a shout, we'll do lunch.

Davart;
I considered Fulton, but it seems it would be desolate at that time of day, & of course I tried to figure from Southwest Chief to City of New Orleans south, or the Sunset Limited, north, either way, Fulton is in the middle of the night or the wee small hours. I know Maysville is way east, & wanted to make my way west, any suggestions as to railing as close to Louisville without having to bus it the rest of the way? Perhaps Chicago & rent a car? After giving it some thought, I may change my rail plans
Yeah I love Bluegill, caught some on Lake of the Ozarks back in '97.
I imagine them battered & fried dipped & a dipping sauce of plain yogurt-mayo cilantro lime. I love deep fried Catfish too! I imiagine that bacon wrapped.
I kinda' figured Makers is the Bourbon Whiskey of choice, I like it, but I guess us city boys don't know as well as you well seasoned conessieurs of Kentucky Bourbon. SO...what about other Kentucky Whiskey?
I pretty much like all whiskeys,whether Canadian,Scotch,Kentucky,Tennesee,
I'm not too picky. My guess is that beer in Kentucky is the same usual
commercial brew we get everywhere & anywhere.
And...my question about the stuff in Mason Jars, remains without an answer...
Of Course I'll give you a shout, maybe you can come & get me in Fulton. Where does one stay in Mayfield? I have contacted a Stephenson in Mayfield & it turns out he may not be decendents of my Grandfather George Stephenson, who I find out now is from Tennesee.
I take it the climate will be warm there between June & July. I guess I'll need Bug Repellent & Suncreen. Get back or direct message if you would please.
