Question Relocation Questions

Howdy Folks, I have some questions of trying to decide where to live in Kentucky. I have two areas in mind, one being South Portsmouth area and the other South Shore area. Regarding these two places, which is better. Being 54 and single with dogs I prefer at least half acre or better. Looking to decide to either buy up some land and to build or buy some existing brick ranch home. Need to get at least 2100 sq feet living space either as one level or main with full basement combined. How is the air in this area? Is it heavy with horse smells or farm smells? Need to stay away from that cause I cannot handle it. Also do they have city water, and sewage lines along with the electricity? Next what is the property tax base between these two locations? The homes I see are out of the city which is fine with me. Would anyone here in this forum know about the quality of these homes? Last but not least does anyone know of a good home building contractor that is honest and not cut corners and does good quality work in these areas? Also which real estate agent can be trustworthy in the business as well? I must make a decision soon, so I can begin to make my arrangements, but need to make contact to the individuals of business.

Would appreciate any response from those living in this section of Kentucky.
