Default Shepherdsville questions

I am quite possibly moving to Shepherdsville and wondered if any of you have any information on the school system, community, and feel of the town. All comments are welcomed.

Its not much of a "town." It is more like a bedroom community and strips of subdivisions. It is a fairly nice exurban area, but IMO there are nicer exurbs with more of a "town" feel in the Louisville MSA. The schools are only average. Much nicer communities with better schools would include places like Shelbyville, La Grange, Crestwood, and Prospect in KY and New Albany, Floyds Knobs, and Jeffersonville in Indiana.

You could check the local online paper to get a decent flavor of current activities www.pioneernews.net

As for Shepherdsville, it's about location. If you work at UPS, the airport, regional post office, Yum brands, UofL, fairgrounds, SW industrial park, basically anything south of downtown Louisville, your commute will be much shorter and predictable living in Shepherdsville (or northern Bullitt county) than living on the NE side of the county, Shelby, or Oldham counties. For schools, Mt Washington (Bullitt East) is a decent high school. If you live in Louisville you'll have to go thru the lottery to figure out your school system. One thing that is evident, there aren't nearly as many parks in Bullitt or Anderson counties as there are in Louisville.
