Headin' to Butler County!
The spousal unit and I will be spending the Memorial day weekend in Morgantown. We bought a few acres on the Green River recently and had a road put in a few weeks ago. The game plan is to start construction on a cabin in about two years for the 'weekend getaway' place. We will eventually retire in about 10 years and build a larger home on the property. What a great view! Man, I am excited about the trip!

Butler County Land
The property we found was on a road called Bryant's Ridge. It's 175 acres with a small one room cabin. Very nice hunting land.It is listed with a realty company in Butler County.

I've seen plenty of deer & turkey around the area! A friend of mine had a 300ac. farm in neighboring Warren county and it's just crawling with critters. You should be able to find some hunting land fairly easily. Check in the local papers.

You have to remember this is a very low income part of the state, not the big city around here land prices are unaffordable for the natives that live here. Always looking to expand hunting opportunities but for 150,000 or more is too much. I'm sure your friend that had land in warren county has been approached about selling, very busy area right now. If he still has the land undeveloped he is sitting on a gold mine. Would love to exchange huntin stories and a glass of sweet tea, let us know when your in the area.

Thanks, kymom2! We will probably be back up there sometime in early spring. I'd love to swap hunting stories with you all sometime.
The river property is coming along slowly & I've still got a lot of work to do before we start building. The cabin is still probably about 2 years away, it will be nice when we get it finished!
I'll give you a heads up the next time we visit.

Hey Ya'll
I was just reading the post, we live about 5 miles from the property on Bryant Ridge. It is nice hunting land and I wish we could owe it. It is hard to see others come in from bigger cities and buy up land like it was penny candy. It is really frustrating when "city people" sorry if any one take offense to that, come in and buy it and hunt it. So many of them shoot at anything that moves without even seeing what it is. I hunt, and on opening morning of deer season I am almost to scared to walk home from my stand there are so many shots being fired from the folks who owe land and come in to hunt the season. Everyone has the right to owe what ever they can afford and we are always glad to have new neighbors who share our interest in hunting, fishing and nature. It is just that some city people ruin it for others who actually take the time to learn about hunting before they grab their gun and hit the field.
I'm not sure what part of the river you bought land on, but we spend a huge amount of time up and down the river. It is indeed a great place to be and congratulations on find the ideal relaxation spot. I think you will find the people of Butler County to be friendly, helpful and talkative. If you get a chance stop in Bryants Groceries in Welches Creek , it is one of the best spots to find out what Butler County is all about, and you can also find out the latest gossip. And we LOVE Sweet Tea too...
