Default Looking for good schools in Northern Ky

Hello everyone. I am currently in an interracial relationship and live in Northern Kentucky with my white girlfriend. We have decided to buy a home but we are not familiar with cincinnati or northern Kentucky to be honest with you. Could anyone please advise us on areas with good school districts that are more open minded. We were considering Forest Hills SD for a while but I read in the cincinnati forums that we may not be "welcomed" with open arms.

She works in Cincinnati near UC and I work in Covington. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cincinnati is a large metro so it is tolerable. You should be fine most areas. I am partial to the city areas like Mount Adams and Hyde Park/Mount Lookout.

I grew up in Northern Kentucky and teach there now. The schools with the best reputations on the KY side of the river are by far Ft. Thomas Independent and Beechwood Independent. Either district is top notch; both consistently rank among the top in the state. Also, there are a host of good private schools operated by the Diocese of Covington, if you want to go that route.

Honestly, moving anywhere in the Cincinnati area means you run the risk of being welcomed with less than open arms, though, in NKY, at least, I think that you would simply be the victim of others' curiosity. People are kind and usually more naive than intolerant.

As for Ft. Thomas as a town, it is quaintly suburban and can be pricy, but beautiful, friendly, and literally minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

I grew up around Cincinnati in the Taylor Mill area. Beautiful small town with a small population of mostly white. When I was in eighth grade, we had a few hispanic kids, a few black kids, a few asians, and mostly whites. No racism whatsoever. In fact, race never even crossed my mind as a white student until I moved to my present location of Romeoville, Illinois, where most of the people I know are huge racists.

It is definetely a very friendly environment, especially if your kids love the outdoors. Winters are beautiful with just the right amount of snow. All four seasons. Summer is grueling hot but is made up for in spring and fall. Lots of hills, plenty of woods to explore and have fun in, and just an overall small town environment. And like I said, I never once encountered racism in Taylor Mill. I've lived in Beaumont, Texas, and the Chicago subarbs which are considered very 'tolerant' and 'liberal' (haha), and Taylor Mill is without a doubt the funnest, best place I have ever lived.
