I've don't do or sell drugs (never have), drink, smoke, chew, and exercise 2 hours on average a day, and am native and life long resident of East Ky., travelled to all 50 states and to more than 10 countries overseas, so, frat boy (you sound like one, whether or not you are is irrelevant), I don't need you to speak for me. I'm proudly from as you would refer to it as "Rodentia" and I'm glad Rattigan, king of rats, no longer resides here. Up yours, condescending creep.

In what way do I sound like a frat boy? I'm just not some backwoods nobody.
If you live in Harlan, or eastern Kentucky, you are a joke to the world. That is all.
You calling me "frat boy", which I am not, clearly shows you never went to college, because "frat boys" aren't stereotyped as placing an emphasis on quality of life, they're stereotyped as living poorly and making bad decisions.
In fact, you living in eastern Kentucky makes you more of a fratboy than me as it is, in fact, a poor decision.
You may be an exception to the average eastern Kentuckian, there may be quite a few on here, but this is also the internet, something MANY eastern Kentuckians do not have access to.
If you were placed among 500 randomly sampled people from your area, you'd stick out. However, it is not simply just because you have achieved, it is also because the people around you have not.

The only thing you seem like to me is a low-class condescending snot that I'm a fool for even responding to. I am proud of my region and my people, and you are beneath contempt. Goodbye.

Only some backwoods, or non-backwoods nobody would write such hate-filled sputum. It is almost as if you were Hitler, we mountain people would be headed to the ovens if you had your way. I think you have some screw loose somewhere. Every one has their likes and dislikes and predjudices and all, but the venomous way you look at a certain geographical region and culture of people is absolutely disgusting. As I said before, I don't even know why I even try to debate a spiteful boor like you, but I do anyway. And I don't have to prove my medical or educational background to boors anyway.

Beginning a sentence with a contraction it's very obvious you don't have much in the way of an educational background anyway. Juuust kidding.
Then again, if we got emptied eastern Kentucky it would be a huge relief to Kentucky's budget problem.
I'd bet the fine people of Kentucky's metros only see half of every dollar they pay into taxes.
Maybe we should just tax you all into submission?

That pride is why your region and people continue to live FAR below the standard set for Americans.
That is my point.
I don't want to spread hate, but EKY is a drain on the rest of the state, dead weight.

I'll try this again. I geuss I made too much sense in my first two posts for you to respond. If you're so passionate about EKY's problems, move back and be the solution! You said the residents are the answer to the problems, remember enlightened one? If you would like to change EKY's future from the forums of city-data, then maybe you should start by not calling the residents "rodentia" and "untamed primates". Some may think that you were spreading hate . The funniest part about your argument is that you are comparing EKY to a city known nationwide for it's unemployment, murder rate, and corruption. I'm almost certain that if I went to Detroit's section on city-data and called them "untamed primates" then they would accuse me of spreading hate. I agree that EKY has problems, but calling the residents names isn't going to change a thing for you or them. You're just losing credibility with the people you are trying to lecture. If someone wants to move on from EKY, then good for them, but that doesn't make them a better person than the ones who stay. You are correct when you say that people in the metros get less money back than they pay in taxes. That happens everywhere, even Michigan. Feel free to correct any grammatical errors in my post!! I'm sure it won't affect my paycheck or lifestyle.

Why don't you guys just agree to disagree? You're obviously not gonna change each others minds, so why bother arguing with some stranger over the internet?
