also, the photo that is labelled Thatcher4....the house with the black pick up truck in front of it - I think that's your house, now that I see the listing on the RHR site. Really close to the neighbors, and there seem to be a lot of activity at that next door house....

CoffeeAddict is on a distinguished road
Really? Well, on the plus side, it looks like a cute street and not as rual as I thought.

On the down side, I can just imagine my neighbors calling the cops on me if any of my training dogs start barking their heads off. Holy cow, those houses are REALLY close together! I wanted the house because it has an acre of land and a barn that I could maybe convert to kennels, but I didn't realize that all the land was all lengthwise, and that width-wise there was no space.

ARGH! I don't know what to do now. I still want it, but at the same time I don't know how the neighbors would react to my frequent doggie vistors. As a dog trainer I'll be getting in new ones all the time.

I don't have many other options because that's my price range right now. I was going to rent for a year until I can save up more money for a down payment and then my price range would go up about 100 grand, but renting is SO hard with dogs.

Gosh I feel so stuck now. Do you know if that is close to like the "town area"? Does North Middletown have a website somewhere that has the pet ordinances listed? I've searched google but can't find anything. The last ting I want is to end up smack in the middle of town and not be allowed by law to have multiple dogs. I know they allow horses there, and the neighbors have one, but not so sure about dogs or if I'd be able to get a kennel license. I'll have to ask the real estate agent about that.

Sigh.

So, what do you think.....Curlin or Hard Spun next weekend?

I like Curlin and Hard Spun but the 1 1/2 mile Belmont will be tough on both. I really expect some of the trainers to bring in fresh well rested horses that missed the Derby and Preakness and try to steal the Belmont, some trainers are well known for that.

I think I'll wait til later in the week before I make a pick and see what the field looks like. Street Sense won't be running in the Belmont so no worry about him. Yep, ol' Bill was one of the best jockeys in the business, it was sad he ended up in a wheel chair. He passed away in his sleep in Oct. 2003 at the age of 72.

Is this true? Are there certain areas of the town I should avoid? I just want a place that has pretty scenery and is middle to upper middle class. (not counting the horse farms of course)

I won't be able to actually see the house or area until I go down to close, which is freaking me out a little. I need someone to tell me that it's not some backwards kicksville town. Please.

I was all excited because it sounded like such a nice place being surrounded by farms and such, but now I'm unsure.

CoffeeAddict, I don't know that I would call the area "backwards" but it may seem that way for someone not accustomed to living in a rural area among country folks. I've met a lot of people around that area over the years and they seem like nice folks, any time you move to a new area it takes time getting to know the people in your neighborhood.... I don't think you would any problems with the people there.

From your post I take it you're buying this place unseen, I would advise against that. Some of the houses in the area are quite old and have foundation problems from dry rot and termites. I would suggest making a trip and spend at least 2-3 days looking, I'm sure there are places for sale not listed on the internet and you may find a much better deal.

Default Craigslist Home in North Middletown

$64900 Nice Home & 1 Horse Barn on 1 Acre - Buy No $ Down!! (North Middletown
I hope I copied this right. This is the home I was drooling over. The original description of the house listed there were no close neighbors. The only thing that put me off was no pictures of the inside of the house. And when I got in touch with the realtor, I still didn't receive any pics, but an invitation to come down & see the property. Which is a little tough to do since I live in Philly & don't drive.

I have seen it in person.....there are neighbors within 30 feet of the house on both sides, and one of those houses is rather shabby looking. The property is also only about 10 feet off the road....
