I'm from Texas and may be visiting there soon. Please tell me everything a person would want to know about it!

Thanks!

oh my, we moved from Paducah to Texas almost 2 years ago. We loved Paducah as a place to live, but as a vacation destination, hmm... Just walking around downtown, go eat at Max's and sit outside if the weather is nice. Then walk down the street for some home-made ice cream for dessert. The walk down to the river, look at the murals and watch barges go by. The quilt museum is really wonderful, i thought I had no interest in quilts but we finally went there right before we moved and I was blown away. Beautiful places nearby include The land between the lakes and the Shawnee national forest. Also the Shawnee wine trail - we loved Blue Sky winery.

bjornb, check out Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau . The murals slfountain mentioned are painted on the floodwall, showing the history of Paducah. An interesting side trip is across the Ohio River in Metropolis, Ill. After checking on the fact that there is no other city of Metropolis, the Illinois Legislature declared Metropolis, Ill., as the official home of Superman. The Superman Celebration will be June 10-13. A bronze statue of the original Lois Lane, Noel Neill, will be unveiled and she will be there. She's been to several of these in Metropolis. It is a dying, run-down town - ugly driving into the town....it has seen grander days that is for sure.

I love some aspects of Paducah. The more Southern "feel" (I can't describe it), the huge river, the nearby Superman statue, and the beautiful and restored downtown area. I actually like visiting Paducah and really looked forward to trips there as a kid.

Now, would I live there? Fat chance.

Well, we went on vacation to paducah about a month ago. Had a great time!! The people are extremely friendly, and that is saying a lot coming from somebody who is from texas. I enjoyed hanging out by the river and driving over all of the bridges that cross the river.

I think McDonalds saw a huge surge in business from me (5 times a day) because I couldnt find any other place that serves coffee.

Although I must say, people were really surprised and confused that San Antonians would vacation in Paducah.
