I'd definitely say Hopkinsville/Paducah is your best bet.

Bologna. Outside of Lex & Louisville, KY doesnt exactly have a good racial makeup. In fact, I'd say it basically has none. At least not enough to really matter.

So I can see why he asked the question.

I'm a black guy who is moving to the Ft. Knox area (Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Vine Grove) and say that is a good bet outside KY's big cities. Military areas usually have higher percentages and acceptance of blacks than other areas inside a certain state. I just know this from my upbringing in Hampton Roads, VA.

BTW my mother is a Texarkana area native and grew up during the segregated times there. I defintely understand why you would ask this question.

Paducah is 24% black.
Bowling Green is 13% black.
Hopkinsville is 30% black.

Your point is shot. BTW, what exactly is a "good racial makeup"? It's sad that in 2010, race is STILL such a big deal.

And you can't do that with the vast majority of states? Birmingham, AL has 75% black. Is that a bad racial makeup? Once again, what exactly is a "good racial makeup"?

eastern KY is almost all white, but central KY does have black populations among smaller towns.

some examples being paris, lebanon, danville, radcilffe, bardstown and others.

this might give you some idea on the distribution.

Not to the extent that most of KY is. Most of the areas that have any population whatsoever that isnt 100% white are either Lex & Louisville, suburb counties of those & the bigger bordering cities across the state line, or smaller counties that have predominately black colleges. And those only give the entire state a 7% population of blacks. Rest is almost all white with nothing in between.

So lets not pretend that the vast majority of the state outside the cities aren't almost 100% white. Hell, my county in E KY is something like 99.6%, as is what most of them hover around. You'd go years without laying your eyes on someone who isn't white.

What's "good racial makeup"?? Not that.

I dont think anyone is disputing the fact that this a predominantly white state, most states are. Darius asked where there are black communities in the state, and thats obviously not in Eastern KY by looking at the graphic. All of those counties you see on the graphic in western KY aren't bordering large cities and last I checked weren't suburbs of Lex or L'ville. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the only majority black college in Kentucky was KY State in Frankfort.
