Re: Hazard... I've been there once, years ago.. it is in the middle of the mountains in South Eastern, KY and anyone who lives here usually hears Hazard, and gets this sour look on their face. I believe that's because it is VERY small, with nothing even remotely close to it. It is VERY country and small. I actually thought it seemed neat myself, but I love small, country and backwoods...

I enjoy living here in Hazard. I enjoy looking out of my window and not seeing in the window of my neighbor. It is a beautiful place, National parks, shopping centers, hospitals, resturants and I can always find something fun to do here. It just doesn't have a lot of bars, if you like that life style then you wouldn't like it here. The county is wet and we have lots of liquor stores, just not lots of bars. Alot of people look down on us because its eastern ky. They think we don't wear shoes or bath. We are just like everyone else. We get up everyday and go to work to pay the bills, we love to play on weekends and go to church on Sunday. Your welcome to come and visit us, don't let someone else color your opinion.

Hazard = Buckhorn Lake. Great little vacation getaway. Very isolated, but pretty!

Hazard is the nearest large town. Hazard itself is actually somewhat pictureseque the way its wedged in that river valley and the narrow streets climbing the hills out of the downtown area.

One thing I will say is...Try your best to drive while there is sunlight. Night driving in those parts is kind of treacherous.
