Default Frankfort Area?????

Hello,

My boyfriend and are are planning on moving to KY from AZ in the fall. We plan on moving to the Frankfort area. My boyfriend plans on going to school for aquaculture there. I am an accountant and would need to commute to either Louisville or Lexington for work. We do not plan on living in the city of Frankfort because we would like to purchase a house with some land.

I was wondering if you guys think I should concentrate on the eastern side of Frankfort and plan on commuting to Lexington, or the Western side and commute to Louisville?

Thanks!

Directly East of Frankfort is horse farms, the most and least expensive land is west of town.

She may be angry, but Aspie is correct, imo. My guess is that you will get a better bargain on the west side of Frankfort since Lexington is pretty close to the east side. That's still a very pretty area and you'd be halfway between two decent sized cities while still in a rural area.

If you are going to work in Louisville, I'd look around Shelbyville or Simpsonville. That would help your commute and it would not be too far for his school. Otherwise, you're looking at an hour commute, depending on where in Louisville your job is located.

The west side of Frankfort, IMO, is better than the east. Also, with the exits on I64, it's still easy access to Lexington. Lex is about 25-30 miles away and Louisville is about 50-55 miles. If you can put up with the small town atmosphere, you can find a house with land here and there are plenty of accounting firms around (don't know about job openings, though).

i agree with shelbyville or simpsonville. my cousin actually lives in shelbyville and she works at the state capitol building in frankfort, and her husband commutes to the eastern suburbs of louisville for work. it works for them!
