City of Fulton, Kentucky

http://www.fultonkynews.com/

Fulton is about 40 miles from Paducah, lots of shopping there , about 3 hours from Memphis and there is a Amtrak run between Fulton and Memphis but it's in the middle of the night. It's near Reelfoot Lake and the Mississippi River. There is good eating in Fulton, not many but good, it's not far from Union City TN (shopping) either or Murray and Mayfield KY.

Concerts, some in Paducah, most in Memphis or Nashville. Crime and Demographics can be found on line but it's not bad. Fulton is a small town around 2800 people. The city is wet but the county is dry.

Weather is zone 7 summers are hot and humid, far western KY is not like the rest of the state, east of the lakes. Winters are mild, little to no snow, it is near a fault line, but no one worries about it, what will that change? nothing.

Default can a city girl survive in Fulton?

I heard Fulton has good barbeque. And they have lots of lakes? What kind of recreation does this area have? Do you think they'd have a gym, yoga or pilates classes, or am I dreaming? How are the schools? Where is the closest Wal-Mart, Home Depot/Lowes to Fulton?

There's a Super Wal-Mart in Fulton ...
Lowe's Union City Tn, Mayfield KY, 2 in Paducah KY and Murray KY.
Home Depot in Paducah.
Your dreamin' on Yoga and Pilates ... country outdoors folks here. Union City or Martin Tn maybe. Also Murray it's a college town. Frankly I don't even know what pilates are is it a greek dish? LOL ...
BBQ is good about everywhere over here, it's a art and people take it seriously. Schools are ok in Fulton I'll have to find the web site with rating, Graves County has the best schools oddly enough according to state ranking, it's where mine go. Lakes and rivers abound, this is called the Western Kentucky Wetlands for a reason ...

Default what about natural disasters?

Any horrible natural disasters? The home I"m looking at sits very high and is very, very old, probably not gone thru many, if any , floods.

I'm looking to start fresh, so employment isn't an issue. No bills, except for taxes and utilities, so I'm pretty much starting fresh. Just no FL bullsh-- any more. Looking forward to colder winters and nicer people. Florida is growing so crazy - all the politicians are on the take, so they approve every friggin development without considering where in the hell people will drive and park.
It's turned into little Cuba/South American/Guatamala. If you don't utilize the beaches and water features of FL, it's a waste of money. It's beyond hot, humid, flat, boring and 10 years behind NY and CA. You'd expect that of other states, but Florida is pure poser-ville.

I wouldn't move to Fulton.

Lots of nicer places than that; there is NOTHING in Fulton.

I always find it funny when somebody say a place has "NOTHING" it has have SOMETHING or it wouldn't be there. Something is what you make it, if you base something around urban amenities and a night life then sure Fulton is lacking. It has 2800 what do you expect, a professional sports team and a concert hall?
You learn to adapt and enjoy things that many take for granted like the fact you can enjoy nature without 100 of people around, you can see eagles nesting at Reelfoot Lake. You can grow nearly anything if you enjoy gardening. You can go out side at night and see stars and not street lights. You can always drive to the city and see and do what you like there, but I for one wouldn't want to live in it. I just got back from the lake and barely saw another car on the road, I like that and it's like that all the time.
It's not everyones cup of tea, but some of us enjoy NOTHING quite a bit.

That's the county not the city, the city is only 2800+/-.
