Hi Buzz,
I know what you mean about the post office thing, we are much further North than your parents, we are actually north west of the Fair Grounds, and half of our mail says Gray and half says Johnson City , same mail box LOL! Some of the companies we deal with have computer systems that when they type in 37615, it comes up JC. Up until recently, Map Quest wouldn't register it either. But I can't imagine having to go all the way to Jonesborough to get my mail! If I am thinking correctly as to where the area you are describing is, we call that Boone's Creek, I know, their address is Gray (Or JC) but on Zack's commercials they even say "......on Roan Street in Boone's Creek". Kinda confusing isn't it? hahahahahha |

You are right about confusing..
When TDOT built the "super highway" (I-26), it was first called Highway 137, then, it was changed to Highway 36, then, U.S. 23, then, I-181 and now I-26. The road must have multiple personalities to have that many names. And, remember when North Roan was U.S. 23? Now, it is Highway 36. I remember when we called it, "The Kingsport Highway" I am not sure what the folks in Kingsport called it, maybe "The Johnson City Highway"? And, Highway 137 was originally built to take the traffic load off the 2 Lane Kingsport Highway. I don't think it ever did though. How things have changed over the years! My parents had a Jonesboro address, a Johnson City address and now have a Gray address, all while living in the same place since 1971. But, I sill miss that area! I gotta plan a trip home in the next month or so. |

Yuck- There is already a Sam's Club on State of Franklin and a dirty Super-Walmart. We don't need any more of them.

there seems to be a disconnect in relation to the cause of the air pollution in the area... aka.. the chemical plant? I get the impression that because its the areas biggest employer.. no one is speaking?
