I have a problem. I was subscribed to this forum and I accidentally unsubscribed, and I'm not sure how to re-subscribe. I posted this question in an existing thread (think it was Questions about Tri-cities) and someone kindly suggested I go to My Settings, and all the way down to the bottom where it says Subscribed Forums. So I did that, and when I went through the list I found that this forum was already checked. So I wonder why I'm not getting the e-mails. Anyway, I clicked on "save changes," even though I didn't make any, so I wonder if that will do any good. Isn't there some way to tell it how often you want to receive notifications, etc.?

Incidentally, I had tried earlier clicking on the "Subscribed Forums" link at the top, and it said I wasn't subscribed to any forums.

I wanted to reply to the person who answered me in the other thread, but didn't know how to find that thread again among the hundreds in the list. Guess I could have used the search.

Thanks.

OK, now I have this forum listed under Subscribed Forums, but I still wonder if I'll get the e-mail notifications. How do I arrange that?
Thanks.

I would suggest unsubscribing, then subscribe again and select from the little drop menu that lets you choose from no replies to email replies. Then you'll know for sure

I'm the person who replied earlier (a fellow Allentownian who now lives in IL - Go Canaries!). I don't know how to do the email stuff though. Sorry!

JQ - To find your previous posts, click your username on your current post and a drop menu will appear. Click "view all posts by this user" and you'll have a list. To track all of your future posts, go to your Settings and click Edit Options. Alternative you can find the options link in your Quick Links in the menu bar. On the options page, scroll down till you see Default Thread Subscription Mode and choose to subscribe to every thread you post in. You'll then find that list when you go to your control panel (settings).

Default e-mail notifications

Thanks, GingerSue, but how did you find out all this stuff? I can't find any instructions anywhere.

I followed your instructions to get an e-mail when there's a post to a thread that I've posted in. But what if I want to get notifications of new posts to other threads? I used to get an e-mail once a week listing all the threads in the Tri-Cities Forum that had new posts.

Is the moderator reading this? Surely he/she must have the answer!

That i do

JQ, go back to the main Kingsport - Johnson City - Bristol page then look for the "forum tools" button just to the upper right of the thread list. Click it and you'll get a drop menu that lets you choose to Subscribe to Forum. It will then take you to a page that lets you choose to get email notifications from the tri-cities forum.

ETA: Just noticed you had subscribed previously but stopped getting the email notices. If you resubscribe and still don't receive notices, check your spam folder. A lot of email programs consider automated email, such as subscription notices, to be spam and they filter them out.

Thanks, Ginger Sue--
I just discovered there's a forum called "About The Forum," and also one called "FAQ". I guess that's where I should have been posting these questions.

I'm surprised you can find out what another member has done re subscriptions, e-mails, etc.--you do get around!

NP

I'm a forum admin on another website, have been for 12 years. I'm pretty familiar with the software used here, it's the best IMO. I just had a peek at the FAQ forum, it's very well done and should be a big help!
