I don't know about you guys, but my electricity cost on my house has been under $100 all summer with the heat pump on A/C all summer. My Nov bill was just over a hundred at $108, then I got the Dec bill, it was a whopping $256.00.

A buddy of mine went from $128 to $356.

Anybody else had a significant increase in their bill (doubled or more).

Tony in JC.

p.s. Overall the electricity rates are much better here than many places in the country. My house is approx 1900 sqft upstairs that have the heat pump and another 1000 sqft downstairs walk out basement that is heated with a propane stove and natural cooling in the summer.

Mine usually runs around $120, right now it's $160. This apartment does better with heat, though. Sometimes in the summer my air conditioning can run it up to $200-$250.

Is that one of those heat for a $1 a day ones? Do they work pretty well? I may need to get one. The heat pump was one thing, but I went out and checked the Propane tank, I had just filled it up in December, now it needs filling again. Last month I paid $320 to have it filled, when they filled it today it cost me $409.....ouch. If those $200 heaters work, I'll need to pick one up.

Stay warm, spring will be here soon enough.

Tony

Tony... was there a difference in the amount of KW used from last year. With the cold weather we've been having...I'll bet it's quite a bit more useage....

It's nice to heat with a wood stove....

This is our first year in this house, we had a smaller place before this and our largest bill there was $148. Obviously this home is bigger, but it was just a shock that the Dec bill would be so much larger than the Nov bill, nearly 2 1/3 times larger.

Between electric and propane I paid over $550 for a month of heat, can't afford too much more of this winter. I just went and turned down the heat upstairs, I had it on 72, turned down to 68. Propane was only on 62, now on 58.

Keep warm,

Tony
