My family and I are planning to move to the tri city area soon.. hopefully neer Johnson city.
I have been looking online at the job market.. I am a social worker currently working in a mental health clinic.. any suggestions?
We are not looking to purchase a house right away.. as we are not real familiar with the area, but we have decided we would rather rent for a while before purchasing a home..get familiar with the area first.
We need atleast a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home.. would prefer a house.

Is electric the most popular heating source in the area?

I have a son in high school.. which school districts are best and which should I avoid. We are a family of four, my daughter hopes to attend ETSU in the fall..
What areas should I avoid when looking for a home to rent.. is the crime rate bad in any area?

I know its a lot but if anyone could help me get started I would greatly appreciate it! thanks!!

Is electric the most popular heating source in the area? Yes

I have a son in high school.. which school districts are best and which should I avoid. At this time, and limited to JC, I would only consider Science Hill. Daniel Boone has been a fine school for many years, but I am concerned about the Washington County budget situation. For younger students, (IMO) Lake Ridge is the best in JC.

We are a family of four, my daughter hopes to attend ETSU in the fall..
What areas should I avoid when looking for a home to rent.. is the crime rate bad in any area? Completely aviod the area South and East of the Johnson City Country Club, until you reach I26. More info on TriCities crime here: Crime Data per Bristol and Kingsport Papers

Good luck.

Angie,
rccrain has given good advice.... Johnson City for the most part is safe everywhere. North J.C. is busy with all of the growth. Would advise Daniel Boone H.S. over Science Hill though.. It is lesser of the High school evils.
As far as work, I too work in Social Services - sent you a private message about work opportunities. Good luck to you and welcome to our little piece of paradise.
