Talking My move to Sneedville

We just got moved here from Florida and it is "how do you describe beauty, layed back, friendly and there when you need them but not in your back pocket all the time" I have found Sneedville to be friendly, helpful, courtous, and gracious. When we finally found our piece of the mtns we met many down home folks and they all said the day we move here they would be here to help us unpack,,,,,well they kept their word, as we were driving down the hollow to our neck of the woods in a big Penske Truck we picked up 4 fourwheelers behind us and as we turned into our driveway I got out of the car and noticed we had accumlated 7 fourwheelers all with big smiles and hello's and ready to unpack our truck and even brought us dinner that night....Now would someone tell me where in Fla that would have occured? In the evening we have a nice fire beside our Creek and listen to the peace, no sirens, no fighting neighbors and no hot cement,,, Regrets NEVER

We finally got up here to tennessee and it is beautiful, quite and fantastic neighbors all with a wave and a smile when we drive by, no noise, no sirens, and no hot cement. we have seen the helping hand of neighbors when we moved in and they have not become pests...they have become friends...Even in town we have been greeted with a smile and a handshake It is a drive to town but even that is beautiful. After spending the day in Morristown we could not wait to get home and relax. I am not even afraid to leave my doors open. Really you need to visit to really get to know the area We are glad we did. We lived in Florida for over 20 years and this feels more like home in a few weeks than all those years.

Congratulations on your move! It sounds like things are going beautifully for you. I hope to see you all in a few years. Who knows, I might be one of the folks waving as I drive by.

Default sneedville

I only have one Sneedville story...Because PBS came from Sneedville, I thought that was where everything was. We were down there once when I was 4 or 5 and I saw the Sneedville sign. I told my mom that this was where Big Bird lived. My heart was broken when she told me the only thing Sesame Street-related in Sneedville was a gigantic antenna.

Thank you for your positive replies about Sneedville. I am also moving to the area in the near future. Bought land and a house there a while back and have been making visits. I am glad to see others from far away moving to this incredibly beautiful area. The peace, beauty and people of Sneedville captured the hearts of my family members who have visited me there as well. How are things going for you now? Please keep us all posted.

Wondered when you are moving to Sneedville and how often you visit? I am moving up that way also and want to make some contacts with others who are doing the same thing as me. The insight of any others would be welcomed also.

I don't know when we will be moving or visiting but Sneedville is still on the top of our list. Due to the slowing real estate market it'll probably be another 6 years before we will be able to retire there. Hope things stay nice and peaceful!

Hang in there crittersitter, it will happen for you. It may take a little longer, which I know makes it harder, but be positive and think about how happy you will be in your new home.

Sneedville also has a Pizza Plus, a good pizza & sub place. Unless it was referred to as the "mom & pop".
