Default Job Hunting - Bachelor's in Psychology

My fiance and I are moving to Johnson City this summer (she's starting grad school in August) and I need a job.

I graduated in May with a BA in Psychology, and I applied to the Clinical Psychology program at ETSU but unfortunately didn't get in (trying again next year).

I would like to find a place of employment where I would be qualified and could gain clinical experience to help me get into grad school next year. I know that case manager positions are often available for people with undergraduate degrees in psychology.

Thanks.

Check out Mountain States Health Alliance. They have a psych hospital and a large medical center in Johnson City. Human Resources MSHA is their job website. Good Luck!

As im sure you know..jobs are somewhat limited for a bachelors in Psychology- you typically need a Masters or even Ph.D. to get a job. However, there are fairly often those case manager jobs available in this area. If there is one area that you might be able to get a job in this area, this is it. I would encourage you to also look at the smaller companies who often post positions in the local newspapers.

Thanks! I also asked a professor at ETSU and he suggested Woodridge Hospital, Watauga Mental Health, Frontier Health, and Youth Villages. I found out that Woodridge is part of the Mountain States Health Alliance.

Yes, unfortunately I know a bachelor's in psychology doesn't hold much weight. That's why I'm hoping to get into the Clinical Psychology Ph. D program at ETSU. I don't have many future options otherwise. I just want to find a job that will boost my resume when I apply again.

I appreciate the help!

Frontier Health is probably your best bet. They have a large program of adult and juvenile services everything from case management to group homes to psych. services.Watauga Menta Health is part of Frontier Bachelor degreed folks usually start out in group homes or as case managers. You also might try First Tennessee Human Resource Agency located in the Burlington Complex on Mckinley Road. This is an umbrella agency which offers an aray of services to families and the elderly, also has some court system programs. If you like working with kids, Youth Villages, Camelot Foster Care and Holston Homes for Children (Greeneville) have job opportunity fairly often. Good Luck to you.
