Can someone explain this to me?Lauderhill is generally considered to be one of the head cesspools for the second biggest toilet in the country. This isn't "Agenda", this is fact.

Look, I'm not slandering the tri cities (I can't, never been there) and I'm not selling real estate down here. I just want to know what exactly people are trying to escape from. I took the tri-cities and compared them to cities that are generally portrayed as some of the head cesspools of my giant toilet I call home, and look...maybe I am missing something, but I see a placebo effect...

not sure what your point is.

high crime here?
very high crime in fort lauderdale?

look at the net crime index...lauderhill (and fort lauderdale) are significantly higher...if i missed your point let me know what it is you are "pointing" out.

Crime is about the same in both places...

I looked at the net crime index and Johnson City vs Lauderhill are about the same...Kingsport is worse than Fort Lauderdale actually (look it up) and much worse than Hollywood. I looked at the net crime index of Sunrise VS Bristol and Sunrise went from being higher to lower in the past 5 years. All I am saying is I'm not quite sure what people thinks they are escaping from, minus crowds and high living costs. I see lots of indirect mentioning of "crime, rude people" without anything to really back it...look at Sunnys response, I told her I didn't have many fights in my HS and my neighbors are trustworthy, good people who look out for each other (Both true) and she thinks I'm a Realtor. I'm just wondering what this whole placebo effect is coming from...I don't want to hijack, so I will do what I said I was going to do; avoid the Tennessee forum. I have only been to Nashville after all...

Actually ft lauderdale is higher....

I don't know where you have lived in your life...what your experiences are. I've been everywhere this side of the rockies. Lived in 12 states including florida, NC, Massachusetts, texas...blah blah blah.

Of all the places I've lived...this area has by far the best overall living conditions. Weather, cost of living, crime (don't just look at crime..look at the type of crime committed and consider that many larger areas have stopped reporting some crime so their stats look better. also consider that in rural areas more crime is domestic in nature then in the city)....

If Ft Lauderdale is for you...more power to you. But until you;ve actually been out in the world living in all these different states, the stats are just stats. Knowing about michaelangelo doesn't tell you what it smells and feels like at the sistene chapel staring up.... ;-)

good luck with your research!

Thanks again for your response .I am originally from Queens, grew up mostly between Orlando and down here. I have had a chance to travel a lot, especially in the past three years and see many parts of the country, but only lived in these three places. I like your last statement as well .

I did notice I was seeing more rape/assault up there in the stats and more robbery and burglary down here. I am actually curious as to what the market conditions are like in the field of insurance sales in eastern TN if I were to relocate out of here in the next 5-10 years (I probably will have to after college, it's no secret south FL is a horrible place to build a career). From what I have gathered it seems like prime territory for the field since it is a growing area. Any information?

Crime reporting is a matter of what is considered a crime. I am a TN native living in SoFla right next to lauderhill in SUNRISE. I own a home in Crossville. I can you assure that Lauderhill, famous for anonymous gay sex in its parks, SIGNS ARE POSTED AT ALL THE LOVELY CITY PARKS WARNING NICE FOLKS TO BE AWARE, Lauderhill with the once beautiful now thanks to FAIR HOUSING LAWS decrepit, "Jackie Gleason's Inverarry" is a crime ridden rathole from which much of channel 4 news is derived. So much for tolerance, and those who lie when they say they love it. I am headed for retirement in about 4 years to intolerant, clean, imperfect Crossville. I can then be comfortable like those who don't live in expensive sh*th*les like Sunrise and declare how I don't mind being loving and tolerant, VERY EASY WHEN YOUR TOWN ISN'T OVERRUN BY CRIME, WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN STOP FOR GAS AT THE CORNER AT NITE, try stopping at the Shell at Hiatus and Oakland, oh i forgot they gave up and closed at nite now, tired of robberies. I have three sons, all teenagers who had to endure "cracker day" at Westpine Middle School when the Broward County Schoolboard said "not a problem" to my wife because they were AFRAID to speak out, because when we did no one else wanted to, including Hispanics who were friends of ours, we Colombian/American. Most white parents kept the kids out of school those days. Because it wasn't the other way around. I remember a white kid at Piper being pushed and recieving brain damage by a group of young blacks, because he was white, fine, no hate crime there. Let's all speak the truth about what we are getting away from and quit prancing around.

Default Crime and Political Correctness

Robivi3, Amen . . .

I'm not going to say that crime and race/violence issues are the ONLY reasons I want to move to TN, but it definitely is a factor! I do realize that there is no crimeless utopia in this country of ours. Those days are long gone when small, southern towns were pretty much crime-free and safe. There's no such place anymore - but then there are different degrees of crime and what we are willing and able to tolerate.

I've done my research for a couple of years now, after having lived in ten of these United States, including FL, over the past 40 years, I've decided to move back to TN where I lived until I was eight years old.

Robivi3, thanks for being politically incorrect and saying it the way it really is.

Dont forget the situations in Oakland park...the homeless, the crime in broad daylight, etc. I lived in a beautiful area in Boca, but if I wanted to live with blinders on, would have stayed in NYC where people step over the homeless on their way to work.

Moderator cut: cut I have lived all over the states and in Europe, and quality of life has meaning to us as we experience life...I am sure when I was 21 I thought S Florida was all that too-lol

I know what and WHO I don't want to live with anymore, they just bring to many problems for me to excuse anymore. 38 years here (I am 49) has made me quite intolerant. My neighborhood has been quickly overrun and made unsafe. No PC here, sorry, and no apologies either. Don't give a damn anymore.
