Hi all, I moved here from VT a little over a month ago, and am REALLY loving it! I managed to find the perfect rental for me and my dog, with lots of room to roam and play (for both of us).

Now I'm in the market for a dog groomer. I searched the forum, and the most recent thread was in 2009, so I thought I'd start a new thread, since so much can change in 2 years.

I live behind Milligan College, so something in JC would be nice, but I'm pretty particular and would be willing to travel a little bit to find the right one. I'd love to find someone who has a natural-care leaning, since I'm into wholistic stuff for both me and my dog.

I'll also need a boarding kennel for the few times a year when I've got to travel. I'd be ok driving to Asheville to find someone who would be willing to feed my dog the raw diet that he's on.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm currently looking for a new groomer as well - just had a falling out with Pet Smart. Hopefully someone here can help.

I would be interested if anyone has any feedback on Mountain Empire...particularly the small animal service on North Roan. Their web site just goes into la-la land when you hit 'boarding'...which doesn't give me a good feeling about their comittment to this end of the business.

Don't know of a dog groomer, but I've put my dogs in Camp Ruff N more off west market street in JC.

They are nice but expensive. Natural Pet Supply in JC may have a lead on a holistic dog groomer.

Thanks guys. Natural Pet Supply recommended Camp Ruff N More, so I'll check them out. I'm still in the market for a holistic vet, and will probably end up going to Asheville, so I may just board over there. Not exactly convenient, but it might be my best option. Plus if I fly out of Asheville, it won't exactly be a waste of a trip.

I have used Pretty Paws for my older dog. They used to be on Knob Creek beside Ashley Academy. I think they have moved. They have early hours and do not leave dogs in cages all day. My dog is clostophopic and could not handle being cooped up all day They are very good to do just what you want. - I don't recommend Personal Touch on Oakland Ave. They left my dog - all wet in a kennel all day. She was a "basket case" They are a little $$$$ but A Lady and Apollo Mobile Grooming is very good. They will come to your house. Mnt. Empire used to be our Vets until Dr. Sara left. We now go to Boones Creek Animal Hospital and are very satisfied. they are especially caring with "Senior" dogs.
