Wynterwomn is on a distinguished road
Smile Anyone have info about Kingsport?

Hi..... I have been here< to this forum > several times and enjoyed reading all about Tennessee.... I recently went on SSD and my hubby is retired... The long gray Michigan winters are starting to get to us ... I am sorry to say i have never done more then drive thru Tn.. However, I have a good online friend who lives in Kingsport...She raves about it and my interest has been piqued even further after reading so many wonderful posts.Prior to Living in Mi..... i lived in NJ < yeah yeah i know !> lol .Weather is a main factor for us, since my hubby is getting older and is always cold these days...and 10 or 15 degrees below 0 in the winter doesnt help .. I dont like extreme heat , so Fla and Az are out of the question for me ..30 -35 is Like a Nice Autumn day for us Michangers !! Cost is another factor... while we are not impoverished .. our income is not what it once was and TN. < by all i have researched is 12.9% cheaper then my part of Michigan... can make a HUGE differance . I am certain i would rent for a year to make sure its a good fit for us...then perhaps buy a Condo.... sooooo anyone have anything to add about Kingsport ?

Hi wynterwomn, welcome to the forum!
My office is in Kingsport and I will be glad to help you all I can. The only thing I can see in your last post that might not be accurate is about the heat here. The past tow summers seemed to have been hotter than the last. We have had about a month worth or really hot days, up to 96 degrees some days. The humidity seems to be a bit higher too than previous years. Is this a trend to the norm? Don't know. Now I have never lived in Michigan, been there on a trip, long long ago, can't recall much about it though. But I did live in CT and FL, the humidity here is nothing like FL, but worse than CT. Good part, it only lasts a little while and even though I hate really humid days, it is bearable. The winters are very mild in comparison. I will send you some links to the other apartments I know in Kingsport. In advance I will say "Welcome to the neighborhood, glad you came "

Default Kingsport and Tri-Cities, TN

I moved to this area in 1983 and have loved it ever since. I grew up in Wisconsin and then lived in Texas for a while. I always say this part of TN is the best of the north and the best of the south.

One thing you should know is that there is a WONDERFUL senior citizens center. Lots of 'Yankees' move here for retirement.
